    MH or VHO

Point a fan blowing across the water surface of your sump. (Clip-on variety work well). You'll see tons more evaporation, but the temperature will often drop bu several degrees. -Dylan

    Cammra chat,

I use a Canon 20D, always on a tripod with a remote cable release. Need to pick up one of those nifty 100mm Macro lenses though. =) -Dylan

Jager's are, as best I can tell, not fully submersible. At least not any off the recent ones. -Dylan

    Help with auto top off

After 4 minutes? I'd consider that a design flaw personally. Is there a way to override that? My preferred method for safety is to have a second float switch higher than the first that cuts off the pump as a failsafe, although I've yet to his mine. -Dylan

    Help with auto top off

Its still a more or less sealed system in the middle. You'll get some siphoning between the RO/DI reservoir and the reactor without a check valve regardless of height, although it would not siphon into the tank as long as the output was out of the water and above the high water mark in the...

    Help with auto top off

Put a check valve between the pump and the kalk reactor? I usually would use a perstaltic pump w/ airline tubing for the feed to the kalk reactor, so check valves are plentiful for that. Not sure what size tubing you're using. -Dylan

Kinda a hijack, but Blazer, you might try Pixmantec's (Free) Raw Shooter Essentials. I've found it to be way way better in terms of quality than Adobe Camera RAW of any generation (CS2 included). In particular, ACR seems to result in a lot of noise that isn't present using the RSE converter...

Leaving tank for a few days......

I have an auto-topoff, but I frequently leave my tank for 5-6 days at a time without feeding. If I'm gone more than that, I'll arrange to have somebody feed it and refill the the RO reservoir however. -Dylan

    majano anemonies, one more time...

I have tons of these and have been fighting them for a while. I took them for aiptasia at first, but I'm leaning more and more towards majano (and they look exactly like what's in the picture you posted). I guess joe's juice is the best approach, but I've never had much luck with it. -Dylan

    Happy Birthday Dylan!! (Llarian)

haha! Thanks guys! I just got back from an 8 mile hike (Spruce Railroad Trail) on the Olympic Penninsula, on a perfectly gorgeous day. How can life be any better than that? =) No pictures though, I decided I wanted to leave my camera at home for the weekend. =) -Dylan

This photo seems a little soft to me. I'm guessing that's mostly due to the high ISO and shutter speed. I doubt there's much that can be done about that short of providing more light. =) However, there's also very very noticable chromatic abberation around the clown's white sections. This...

Yes it does. =) Press the button on the back of the camera with the flower on it until the flower shows up on the LCD on top of the camera. You're now in macro mode. From what I'm reading, you should be able to focus down to 5cm distance from the subject at full wide. (Obviously much...

Focal length is the length of the lens. In this case, 55mm most likely means it was shot zoomed all the way in with the 18-55mm EF-S lens that comes in the Digital Rebel kits. So if the picture were taken with the same lens zoomed all the way out, you'd have a focal length of 18mm (and a very...

Too close or an inaccurate autofocus is definitely part of it. You can see the focal plane on some of the liverock in the background. There's another problem too that would have shown itself if the focus were on the zoos like Gaby intended. To try to prevent blurring, the camera has the...
