600 Gallon Mixed Reef: Looking for input

MAybe I am too much of a puristm, but that ceramic stuff looks terrible to me. It is sort of like finding a huge trickle filter under someone's tank  Just me though. There are many ways to hide plumbing and such without it being so permanent and unnatural looking. If you look...

I ahve been pretty busy with work and othr things lately and ahve not had the time to set it up yet. I am ordering tomorrow the air stones and the air pump. Maybe in a week or two I will get the time to put it together. I am guessing 3-4 hours to do the entire thing.

600 Gallon Mixed Reef: Looking for input

You will need more than a single barracuda for that size tank. More like 2-3 unless you are adding the tunze streams. I would suggest you go with a different pump like a high volume sequence pump for your return as the iwaki is an energy hog for the water volume moved and it adds plenty of heat...

Steve: Yes, if temp gets too high, the lights, close loop pumps, and skimmer pump shut off ikn addition to the alarm. I seriously doubt I would ever connect this to a phone line. The computer does have a modem, but it is not something I will ever use.

Heinz: I know you are a die hard fan of BK skimmers, RD pumps, and such. To each its own. This is no competition in my mind at least. :) I have personally never owned a BK nor have I seen in one in action either, so any comments I may make are based on that. I simply got what knowing what I...

A 750g SPS system is born

If this works half as expected, I can tell you that it cost 1/3 of a bubble king 600 and would skim 5 times as much of a tank. It is a guess at this point as not only do I not have a BK600 to compare it to nor will I ever.
