porcopillion(sp?) turned white still have polps due to overheated tank

I have the same problem but mine was a frag to start with, I have been moving it all over the tank trying to make it happy with no luck. I believe mine went white after I changed reflectors, I assumed too much lighting. Hope someone else has some ideas.

    Chiller or Air Conditioner??

I have been venting my hood (1000 watts of lighting) outside my house using two fans blowing in on one end of the hood and on the other a 6 inch exhaust outside the house with a inline fan. It keeps the tank from heating the room which keeps the water temp cooler. The tank room(the coolest in...

    Chiller or Air Conditioner??

I am going through this myself, my tank is in a room that in past years stayed fairly cool but now with a 1000watts of lighting is heating up. Last night I added a 6 inch duct with inline fan that vents the hot air outside. I have two fans on the other end of the hood blowing air in...

Every Reefers Worst Nightmare come true -Warning graphic photos

Sorry to hear Ben, that is terrible. Once the 240 is going come on by and you are welcome to a frag of anything I got. Would be nice to have a backup. I have two WON brother heaters, one has failed on me already but I noticed the day of so did not go higher than 81degrees. I have since...

I must have had bryopsis as the little guys ate it. Too bad they are neat little critters and a nice solution.

    Algae ID needed and suggestions?

I had some hair algae untill I got a couple of lettuce nudibranchs, they march all over the tank looking for it. Once it is gone the will starve. I have an extra if you are interested.

Prepping to do Red Bug 6 hr dip

I have done the dip three times now, each time I had around five different frags in the dip. I have never had any die off from the dip. I did have a heater in the two gallon tank with the powerhead and I used my tank water. I did not do a saltwater drip. I replaced the dip water with fresh...

Prepping to do Red Bug 6 hr dip

Hey Ben if you need some interceptor I am pretty sure I can spare a 1000mg tablet. I have been using around 50mg in a 2 gallon tank for 3-4 hours. I use a powerhead to mix the crushed interceptor before adding the unmounted frags.

    Large RBTA taking over tank.

Supposingly you just cut them in half with a sharp razor. I have read a few different posts on it but never done it. Read the thread below for details. http://www.reeffrontiers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=13517&highlight=rbta+propagating

    Stressed tang?....video

Big difference between my room and a fish tank...the water, add to that the greater light intensity inside the fish tank and you have the makings of a mirrow. A more accurate comparison between this tank effect for us air dwellers is to look into a body of water, ie pond or lake with a bright...

    Stressed tang?....video

The tang is seeing his reflection and is trying to fight off what he sees as a mass of invading tangs. If the tank were larger he would not be nearly as surrounded by reflections. Have your friend turn on the lights inside the room this should make the reflections go away and the tang should...

    What are these?

I have several concentratons of these brown splotches. Each one is not as wide as a pencil eraser, there are smaller and larger versions of these. I assumed they were algae but after looking closer I think they maybe a creature as they appear to have a head, although I have never seen them...
