A fast way to scrape coraline on Acrylic

Can anyone who has used these compare them with the dobie pads? Just wondering if these are worth the extra cost and shipping.

    LED fixtures and PAR ratings

Just my own humble observations and ramblings... :D Is that credible enough? Probably not, i tend to exaggerate late at night.

    LED fixtures and PAR ratings

LED's are changing so fast it is hard to evaluate them, as new manufacturers and new fixtures are constantly being released. Here are a few criteria I use to evaluate fixtures through my own research and practical experience with AI, Ecoxotic, Acan Lighting, Reefbrite, Current USA, and others...

Those close ups of the scolymia are insane marvin! Did you buy an underwater housing for your camera or a new camera?

Whats this worth? Psychidelic Yuma Ricordia

Looks blasted with blue LED's. $150 is crazy high for a mushroom that small. Maybe $50 to $80. Big Pink/reds that are 1" to 2" usually command $150.

Anyone here ever use ring flashes/lights?

That would be sweet for fish or some inverts if it is fast at recycling a charge and evaluating. Corals don't move too much, so with a tripod there should be no need for a flash, plus the flash light will wash out the colors. My canon 100 mm f2.8 is not fast enough to focus on fish very well...

    Devastating Tank Tragedy

Wow...that really, really sucks  Any idea why it dropped so fast with the solenoid open? To get the CO2 tank cold it must have all emptied within minutes. The needle valve should only let out a trickle... Sounds almost like a pressure relief valve failure, although i thought that was...

    Poisonous Palythoa Polyps

I had this reaction once to a customer's tank filled with a very large ugly brown Palythoa. I was changing out the stand of the tank due to water damage. Severe allergy symptoms, then I was sick for days. Oddly enough, I've never had that reaction with any other palythoa. Must have been a...

Still not happy with my SPS coloration

Good to hear it sounds like everything is going in the right direction! Post some pics when things are looking up! :D Just out of curiosity, did you consider looking at the ATI Bubblemaster? Build quality on the Bubble king is quite a bit nicer, just wondered what your thoughts were...

Still not happy with my SPS coloration

Chris, I haven't noticed a big difference between the two. One thing that can throw people off as to what brand is better is that all the media works fast when your phosphate is high. As the concentration gets very low all media takes longer to absorb the last bit of phosphate (as there is...

Still not happy with my SPS coloration

Don't we all wish things were entirely true in this hobby :D That should have been: "Amount of polyp extension is a great sign of health in Acropora sp."

Still not happy with my SPS coloration

I have a few suggestions for you, but it sounds like you have a great tank with very nice equipment! Hopefully with the levels you mentioned, your coralline algae is growing all over the glass and live rock. 1. Try and keep the alkalinity at 3.5 to 4.0...Worry about this more than the calcium...
