lowest temperature for mixed reef tank

The larger water volume has alot less fluctuation between lighting periods, and the fluctuation is the most important part. Wild swings usually cause death. I've seen my tank drop as low at 70 during power outtages without any losses, but that is on a tank that usually runs at 75 and not at 80...

    sump newbi

The last time I got a piece cut was in Wa in 2007. They may have changed the rules since then. I'm sure they still sell acrylic precut sheets though eh?

    Lionfish Cloudy eyes?

almost everytime a fish has cloudy eyes, you can blame it on water quality. I've never heard of the digestive issue, but mycin is a good general antibiotic

You can also go to Home Depot and get the glass. I've gone there in the past to get glass cut for windows and they sell acrylic sheets on the shelf.

    Will cope pods grow

I had the same problem with one of my tanks. I thought that if I didn't see them, then I didn't have any. I would wake up in the middle of the night on purpose, armed with a flashlight, to search them out. They are probably low in population or dont come out because the ones that do get eatten...

Salvage Livestock from a Brother's tank with Red Slim?

If you're afraid of what of the stuff you'll get off his rocks, then you can boil/bake them or otherwise just kill everything. Since you have live rock already it shouldn't be a problem of needing the bacteria. Just make sure you take off anything you want to keep, like corals. After you do...

    The Twin 180 Project

Dang sorry to hear that. I was just asking because about 10 years ago when I used to do fresh water, I had an australian arawana that was real jumpy. If the music was too loud, the vibrations would bother him very much. BTW cordless suround sound costs about 200-300 for the computer, not sure...

    Will cope pods grow

live rock with or without light is still live rock because it refers to the bacteria and critters that live in the rock and not so much was growing on the rock. Pods will pretty much live anywhere that doesn't have anything hunting them. They breed deep in the rock where fish cannot reach them...

    The Twin 180 Project

interesting setup. Does the vibration from the TV bother your fish at all or do you have cordless surround sound? I used to work for a 70 year old lady that always said "There are only two things you do in a bedroom, one is sleep and the other one is NOT watching TV." LOL

    Waikiki Aquarium Pictures

I go there once a month or so and there are 3 outdoor tanks with corals in them. One is the small clam only tank. One is a 1-2,000 FOWLR with a section where people can pet urchins and stuff, with a dogface, large dsjardini, and one or two other large tanks. The last one is the the one in the...

    sps's with leather corals?

My 180 had devil's hand leather mixed in with a bunch of lps, mushrooms and polyps. once I added a large toadstool, the GSP and yellow polyps died off within the week but nothing else seemed to be effected. I had kept the mix for about 3 years but never tried to add any polyps. The frogspawn and...
