    snails, snails, snails

Im always amazed at what you put in your tank. I have seen the very snail on Assateague Island as my family and I vacation there every summer. We stay at the Dove winds which has a nice little cottage we rent. This year it looks like a snail day will be in the plans.

    Skimmer update

Although it only pulled about 5 scfh this skimmer has worked flawlessly and pulled loads of skimmate out. I have the bubbles breaking just at the bottom of the cup and now after 9 or 10 hours its starting to form a thick wall of foam moving up the neck. Hopefully I can get the new mesh modded...

    Skimmer update

    Skimmer update

Some of you may know I was trying to put a new pump on my NW-150 and opted to buy a new skimmer. I was going to get a MSX-160 but after talking to few people I went ahead and ordered the larger MSX-200 and well after stareing at it for an hour I figured out how to squeeeze it in to the space I...

need replacement pump for Octopus 150

I know who you are now!!! You find your camera cord yet? I would like to see that picture... I do have a 11'' x 15'' space but I also have a cpr filter sock holder in that same space so I was concerned the 200 would not fit with that.

need replacement pump for Octopus 150

You don't happen to know if the MSX200 will inside of a 10 gallon tank do you? Thats about how much room I have to play with and I would rather the larger skimmer.

need replacement pump for Octopus 150

I was just talking to some people at two different online stores and they both assured me the octo 200 will not fit in the footprint of the nw 150 that I have now,so Im going to be limited to the 160 to be safe.I was also told that this skimmer is far superior to my nw and I would be very happy...

need replacement pump for Octopus 150

The main tank is a 75 gallon and I have a 40 gallon breeder tank as a sump, according to the estimator's out there I have 115 total system volume. I also do have limited room in the sump. The NW 150 I have just squeezes in the space that I have. I would love to be able to get the 200 but I doubt...

need replacement pump for Octopus 150

Thanks for the reply... Instead of replaceing the pump Im looking at replaceing the whole skimmer, I have had this NW 150 since the start and I think the Octo extreme 160 would be a good replacement because of the limited room I have in the sump.

need replacement pump for Octopus 150

Hey all, Im looking for a new pump for my Octopus NW 150. My old pump has a split in the wire just as it exits from the pump and Im wondering if the new Sicce PSK-2500 will fit or can it be modded to fit. I already have a gate valve mod so I can adjust things but Im wondering if this pump would...

    Bryopsis/Kent Tech M Question

What about freezing the rock? you guys have tried everything else. I read an article at a place called fish suite101 about bryopsis that says if you can freeze the rock it will break cellular structure in the byopsis effectively killing the algae.

Setting up my calcium reactor and I have a question

Well, Im very sure I have the calcium reactor dialed in. I waited until today to test again after the water change to let every thing settle and my test numbers are nearly the same as they were 8 days ago.Another thing I did today was run a airline from my skimmer to the outside of my house to...

Setting up my calcium reactor and I have a question

I have the ARM media small in there right now, but my lfs is ordering me the coarse ARM that the company strongly recommends because the small can get into the pump and kill it. I also have a ph controller on there taking control of the ph. What I have noticed it takes a very long time to cycle...

Setting up my calcium reactor and I have a question

After digging around (I should have done this first) I found directions on the Coralvue web site for the octopus calcium reactors and they direct me to adjust the bubble rate to 25 to 35 bubbles per minute and a flow rate of 50 to 60ml per minute... I just finished adjusting and I will take some...

Setting up my calcium reactor and I have a question

Wait until I tell your 5 year old ... I used the probe port but when I change to the large size media (thats what my reactor calls for, found out afterward) I can see this being much easier to calibrate. I have a 75 gallon mixed reef with 140lbs of rock and some very large...
