There is a product by Chem-Marine called "Stop Aiptasa", it comes with an applicator. This stuff WORKS!!!! And it is reef safe. Their phone number is (570)654-0298, their web site is www.chem-marin.com, and their E-mail is [email protected].
the more important aspect to keep in mind as far as stocking densities is the mass of the fish, not so much just the length. One 10 inch lionfish will produce more waste than 10-1 inch damsels. Keep in mind the amount of beneficial bacteria, if it is a freshly set-up system, keep a close eye on...
You are absolutely correct CPR does manufacture excellent products. I am one of those reefers who's ingenuity is larger than my wallet. LOL I am useing Kents Bio-sediments for a substrate. You know the weight issue is something I did noy think about, if I notice any problems I will think of...
I have built a kick-butt refugium for the back of my 16 gallon out of a AquaClear 300. I am going to post a thread with step by step pictures as soon as I figure out how. There is approx. 3 inches of sand, a small pile of rubble, and some macro. Iv'e built a baffle, and fitted a PC 18 watt...
IS anyone making small skimmers for say..... a 16 gallon ??? I would love to have a skimmer on my tank but I cant get my hands on one that wont over-skim!!!
We had a problem with them going sexual at the store I manage, we would come in in the morning and the whole tank would be murkey, so we started keeping the lights on and have not had a problem with them since. Sooo if it aint broke don't fix it.
I would recommend " Live Sand Secrets " by Bob Goemans. This publication is put out by Marc Weiss companies. There is a second revised edition, that seems to be a little more thought out, in my openion. I am interested in a discussion on this book. So let me know what you think. Please. Have fun!!!
Weeelll about the skimmer.... I seem to have a de"fish"ency in that department. I don't want to over skim what would you recommend for a proper sized skimmer??
hey thanks for the response, that is a great thing to hear. Let me throw something else at you, on my tank I have a skimmer over flow box going down to my sump where I have some coral rock in the spot wbio the boi-balls would go, to me it seem there is no "real" filtration, other than...
I have s 16 gallon aquarium and about another 5 gallons in my sump, it doesn't take much for the salinity to change. I have found that all I need to do is add 1/2 gallon fresh water everyday. I am not sure if a float valve would be sensitive enough to register?? If I am wrong please correct me!!
The reason I do such large changes is because I have a few soft corals, and want to prevent any build up of waste. I dump the refill water into the sump, so it doesn't stir the main tank.
I hope that it is not what I think it is, but there are small bubbles forming in the top inch of my sand bed. I have a 16 gallon bow front, with a maximum sand depth of 3 inches in some spots. There are three fish in there, and I do an 8-10 gallon water change once a week. Could this something...
