    October meeting

I kinda figured we'd discuss reef stuff, but hey, bring your knitting too. ;) No topic picked yet- How about Calcium and Alkalinity in the Reef Environment? Zeph

    PSAS Meeting place

I don't know if you have Tidyman's supermarkets over there, but they all have an upstairs conference room that is free for clubs to use. Been using one for an RC Airplane club for 6+ years now. It's just a large room with tables and chairs, but it's free. Zeph

    Photo Printers

I've given up on the HPs- They make a decent cheapo printer, but charge way too much for their cartridges. The printers don't seam to last either, but for the price, I guess they expect you to buy a new one every year. I've been drooling over the Cannon I9900- 8 color tanks, 13x19" prints...

    Calcium reactor help

Tom has it about nailed- CO2 tanks, regulators and controllers are available from the mail order shops like Custom Aquatic. I suggest a 10# tank, it is still small enough to fit in a stand, but double the capacity of a 5# tank. The controller is not required, but is nice as you need to...

    Spa-Flex solvent

I've been using Weldon for PVC, available at Home Depot. Make sure you use the primer too though- The primer softens up the flex enough to get it to slide in to the fittings, as well as giving the glue an extra bite. No leaks yet with that method, although I've seen some reports that you are...

Actually it is at the Richland meeting. :) I'll send an email out to remind people. If you don't get it, drop me an email or PM with your email address and I will add you to my list. Zeph

    Another skimmer in the works

Allorings.com is a good source for them, but sells in packs of 25 usually. Buna-N is a good choice of rubber for them. Zeph

    Off Topic Photography

This one is with the D-70 attached to a Meade 60mm (F/350) telescope. There were high clouds that night, so it is not very crisp.

Well if we are going to go off topic.... :) All shot yesterday with the D-70/18-70 kit.

Howdy- The next meeting is not scheduled yet. I can't make it on the 24th, and others have things planned for the 17th already. I'm thinking of skipping the July meeting, and having the August one at the Tri-cities get together. Zeph

    June Meeting:

I've got another event before this one that I'll have to leave early for Josh, so I can't get down early. If the party breaks up before midnight I can stop by after though. :) Zeph

what type of ball valves do you run ?

I've gone to True Union ball valves from Aquatic Eco-Systems. They include both threaded and slip fittings in each box, so I can choose on the fly how to connect them. Make sure they are true unions, with unions on both sides. Some ball valves marketed as "True union" only have one union...

    DIY Nilsen Reactor project

You might try harborfreight.com. They have a complete set of pipe taps up to 1.25", for not too much. I use them a ton now. Zeph

What are your helpful plumbing hints?

Nikki- Great minds..... :) Yep bushings are great, I forgot to list them. They can adapt slip to thread, or change sizes of pipe (and adapt too). I use regular old tank sealing silicon. They do make a gooey thread sealing silicon that should be fine too, but it does not cure. The tank...

What are your helpful plumbing hints?

I'm not quite following the "90 degrees" comments. A slip-slip fitting can be 180 degrees (called a Couple) or 90 degrees (called an Ell) or even a slip-slip-slip (Tee). PVC slip fittings require PVC glue and primer. Acrylic glue should only be used in no-pressure applications like plumbing in...

    June Meeting:

Thanks to all that made it out to the last meeting- The estimate is around 30-35 people made it up here- Biggest crowd we have had yet. We are going to have the next meeting in Liberty Lake. Meeting date is June 12th, at 7:00pm. Topic of the night is cooling a tank in the summer. As usual...

We are going to have to get Mike an Dan to move though- That is where the display tank is supposed to go. :) Zeph

    BBQ Pictures

Thanks for the pictures Kevin- I did not get a chance to take any. You've managed to make 30+ people look like 12 though. :) Zeph

    May meeting-Thanks Brent

Howdy all- Glad you had a good time. I realized late that night that I forgot to organize the equipment swap. :) It seams like I talked all night, but did not get a chance to get to some of the conversations that I was hoping to have. I'll have to do it again just so I can catch up. ;) Glad...
