Do you think my Yellow Tang is too big for my tank?

It's easy. Go tho the page you want to link to. Copy the link from the address bar. Go to the post page and write whatever it is you want the link to say. Highlight that text and click the link icon, the one with the world and paperclip.. When the URL scrript prompt pop up window appears right...

    Lots of salt

Generally speaking larger tanks don't require as frequent water changes as smaller ones because their capacity makes for a more stable environment so initially the cost may be higher but in terms of maintenance they actually (depending on the livestock and routine of the owner) may require less...

    Power outage

That's no good. I hope they're OK. 15 or more years ago we used to get power outages regularly and every year I had to deal with the threat of causalities. Now we haven't had one for many years. They must have upgraded something... Anyhow...Good luck.

How can i tell if my tank is glass or acrylic?

Yep, tap on it. If it sounds like plastic soft, dull, it's acrylic. If it's hard like glass, it's glass. The edges will also look like plastic... Generally they are built with different characteristics. Acrylic tanks will have the corners glued together with acrylic cement leaving a clean...

    hi guys

Dan, sounds like your on the right track. I'd use all the VHO's you've got. I would also slow down on the water changes a bit. It's been my experience it takes longer to cycle when fresh water is added too frequently. Seven weeks is not enough time in my opinion to completely cycle and your your...

How do you make your saltwater? Any tricks?

Enter stage left as promised and in "typical fashion" just like clockwork...Rhetorical questions I presume? Funny how you guys must resort to name calling to make a point though. Quite amusing. This is the "General Discussion" forum, not the "New to Reefkeeping" forum. "Newby" maybe, maybe not...

How do you make your saltwater? Any tricks?

I offered my opinion. If that's not good enough for you then, well...That's your problem. Learn to deal with it, or re-read my posts and figure it out yourself. From what I see in the link it's one mans opinion. Tell ya what. Since you're so into the "science" and YOU made the statement that...

How do you make your saltwater? Any tricks?

My goodness people. All I hear from some of you guys from the good old boys club is opinion. Fact is you just can't stand it when someone disagrees with you, you fall back on the old "science" argument yet provide none, then blame others for not complying with pre-determined ideals of how things...

How do you make your saltwater? Any tricks?

I wouldn't exactly say it that way but I agree with you 100% burning2nd. Adding water to salt ain't gonna make a hoot of difference. The amount of precipitation that could, I say could occur during the time the salt dissolves while the water is added is infinitesimal. Definitely not gonna hurt...

How do you make your saltwater? Any tricks?

We're talking about making saltwater, so the baseline will be fresh water, zero salt. "Target amount" varies but could be anywhere from 1.022 through 1.026. If the appropriate amount of salt is added to fresh water to achieve the "target amount" how can "supersaturation" occur? burning2nd...
