Man that tank is going to be so sweet... SO sweet. Yea, IP cams are expensive, so it is a good idea do a your research as they are all a little different in one way or another. Most have web servers built into them, which could be good or bad depending on what you are looking for. Personally I...

18 inches above the tank should get you a lot of view, more than a 12x12 square for sure. Its going to be based off the IP cam you use for sure, do you have one in mind? Is this for the overflowing rimless?

    getting into SPS...

Hey skeptic nice shots! everything is looking happy. Good coraline growth, a sign of stable params. You should start with some of the hardier sps, in my experience stylophora (cats paw) is pretty bulletproof, as well as some of the digitata out there. The darker the digi, the easier to care for...

with surface agitation and glare off your fixture, you might not be able to see much. I have my cams facing glass for that reason. I also have crappy cams though :/

No idea, look for 'dynamic dns' somewhere in the configuration. If you dont/cant find it, you can run the app on your pc. It just sits in the task bar and tells dyndns if your ip has changed or not

Is There a such thing as TOO much light?

100w intensity so thats like 24w in the florescent world. thats fine, its just an experiment to see if the shrooms open up some more. They should open up real nice for you in a few days if lighting was too intense for them in the display

I use a program called webcamXP, there are several other free webcam hosting apps you can run on your own machine, and don't need to use a portal service like the one in the link above. I don't have the bandwidth to show up on someone else's browser heh. About the static IP address, I use...

    Sand critters

The nasarius will climb the tank walls when you feed if they are REALLY hungry, about halfway up until they fall over/off and go somewhere else. They wont crawl out, thats for sure. Excellent sand stirrers. Also, we have a sand conch since day 1 that is kind of clumsy (runs into frag plugs) but...

    Sand critters

Pistol Shrimp are fun, but need a goby to have confidence to come out during the day. They can throw sand up all over the place when they get bored though! I like Peanut worms and sand dwelling snails like the Nassari, but thats prolly not what you were looking for

    live sand or not

Trillyen, you could attempt to rinse it still, just make sure to rinse it real good++

Red stuff What is this ????

Hi there Tina, were you referring to the little flat red things? I circled them in the picture below. If so, that is Planaria, a type of flatworm. They are beneficial algae feeders, and help keep your rocks clean, but can become unsightly in numbers. You can vacuum them out over your next few...

    question- 1-2 gallon nano

You wouldn't be able to keep a fish in a tank this small without some technology and a lot of effort, for any decent period of time. Salinity problems in a tank so small would probably be the first thing to become apparent. Proper ca/alk/ph levels next, with alk/ph being evil. Temp would...

Is There a such thing as TOO much light?

Mike, I think he is running 4x54w t5's. If that is the case, I would say yea, those blue mushrooms prolly don't like all the light, especially they were tossed in and not acclimated. ***Of course, water params are the first thing to take a look at, just like mike mentions above. For what its...
