Mike, You should definitely get a flowmeter when you get those new stones. It would be nice to know how much airflow you are actually putting through those guys! :) Peace, John H.

Do you really think that the smaller stones will give you much better results?

Mike, How large is this sucker, height wise? Looks like you are getting solid results so why are you going to the smaller stones? I mean, if it works why change up a good thing? Peace, John H.

Oh sorry, I didn't know there was a second page... I like the carbon chamber. Always wanted something like that off the output of my skimmer. :) Peace, John H.

Redeyereef, Since you actually have airflow meters... I think you would be doing everyone a much needed service if you actually were able to give some observations of bubble size for your stones at a given air throughput. Peace, John H.

What pump are you using fishfood? Also, I doubt air hose size has anything to do w/ the bubble size unless it is so restrictive that it actually impedes air flow. If you are flowing 80SCFH through 1/4" vs. 3/8" hose, it really should not make a difference. Peace, John H.

yeah, go easy on those eyes. You definitely don't want to irritate them more than you have to during the healing process. :) Peace, John

The stones that we are using will be around .5 PSI to .75 PSI Peace, John H.

The same bubble size? I don't know about that Mike... there's a reason you would need 25 to 50 PSI to blow air through those things. :) Peace, John H.

    DIY skimmer #2

Mike, I know... I've looked at them several times, but you've never posted a close up pic of the bubbles in the box chamber. The bubble size in the first acrylic tube is nice, but I'd really like to see what they look like in the box chamber. Peace, John

Mike, What about you? Could you post a pic of the bubbles in the box chamber? I'd like to actually see their size in the water column. Peace, John H.
