    A Saga: Nikki's 120 gallon

Very cool Nikki ! Please post a pic when you have a chance. I'm also considering getting one but not sure L III's or the Mini. Do you have to make any adjustments to your canopy ?

    Nutrient levels

Wow that's a big thread ! Will it answer my question ? If not then I won't bother:D

    Quarantine

Yes I agree but just would add that you might as well lower it slowly to 1.009 to effectively treat for crypto irritans.

    Nutrient levels

To me this is a paradox. What would be the desired nutrients and how would you be able to measure them ?

    Nutrient levels

I know that the tendency in a SPS tank is to keep them exclusively but would it be beneficial to keep corals that tend to like heavier nutrient levels so they can compete with algea ? Or maybe to increase the biodiversity especially filter feeders ?

    Nutrient levels

That's a great point ! Maybe that explains why my SPS have been able to withstand my typical 84-86 * F temp I usually maintain in the summertime

    Nutrient levels

Humm I have never used RO water or a phos absorver and I have a DSB, I'm probably a poster child for eutrophocation  Great article reedman thanx for sharing. This reminds me of the Caleurpa invasion that's destroying the Mediterranium Sea.

    Nutrient levels

I know in my tank is nowhere near the low level of nutrients found in a coral reef and eutrophocation has not occured yet...does this mean it's inevitable ? Even though many people have great filtration can it ever compare to a healthy coral reef ?

    Project 58!! (Image intense)

I had the same problem with my Mag 12, the ceramic shaft actually broke apart, same thing with my Seio 1100 good thing I had a backup impellar for the Mag and the Rio just in case. What I do now is every few months I'll take all the pumps and let them run in vinegar for several hours.

    Power Compact vs. Metal Halide

I frequent a Portuguese reefing site and T5's are very popular there and across Europe and people have had great success keeping SPS with them, but you need a good reflector, the Sunlight Tek Light T5 Hood is really good...

    Live Rock Saturation?

Mike wouldn't the occurrence of N and P in these areas be possibly due to acumulation and not production and don't certain corals specifically LPS do very well in these types of environments ?

    Pairing Gold Bar Maroon Clowns

That's great to hear but keep an eye on them. In my case with a pair of Perculas they seemed to get along for a couple of days but then the female went ballistic and eventually I had to remove the male to save him from certain death. Here's some great info on pairing clownfish...

A 750g SPS system is born

Wow Alberto the one of the Regal Angel in particular is excellent ! I can't believe how well you were able to photograph the Fairy Wrasse, those guys are some of the most difficult fish to get a clear pic of, I know I've tried:D
