    Cyno or dino's??

Thank you all for your sage advice! I'm glad to hear it is not dinos. I'm incresing water changes from 5 gal a week to 10 (50 gal tank with 20 gal sump/fuge). I think I was also over-feeding.

    Cyno or dino's??

I was having the refugium on when my tank lights were off and was told this was bad by BSL (mentioned above)! The algae doesn't look too snot-like. There is a lot of water circulation in my tank and there seems to be this bubble problem in heavy and light circulation areas. Maybe...

    Cyno or dino's??

I have wierd bubbles. For the last couple of weeks, I've been having more and more of these strange bubbles on my LR and substraight. I've also noticed various colors of algae surrounding the bubbles. In one place there were some bubbles surrounded by a silky purple algae, and in the picture...

    Fish in tank and skimmers.

What skimmer is your preffered favorite? I just got a used Berlin Classic for my 50 gallon. that makes foam about half the time since it's been set up (only 5 days now). I was talking around and heard of the Reef Devil and the Evolution 500 and thought they sounded a bit nicer than my own...

Seriously great people, LR $4.50 PER POUND!

Um... answers :) It's real live rock, mostly tonga or fiji... they cure it themselves. The reason it's so inexpensive is because they pay so little shipping and because they work from home, most business expenses are avoided and they don't have to jack up the price. Our rocks were covered...

MH vs. VHO lighting for newbie w/reef!

Thanks, everyone. Thanks you everyone for your info on the lights! We really want to have MH so I think we're going to try and make that work, although if we can't we'll get PCs (since VHOs seem to be going extinct in the near future :)).

MH vs. VHO lighting for newbie w/reef!

The flip-open cover is acrylic, not plastic, just like the rest of the tank and the hinge is glued on really well because it used to be an octipus tank. Any ideas on how to remove the top without having to remove everything in the tank and sawing? The flip open lid only covers a 24" by 7"...

MH vs. VHO lighting for newbie w/reef!

I DON'T KNOW WHAT LIGHTING TO GET FOR MY NEW "REEF" TANK (only live rick and shrimp and fish right now). Someone help... please! Here are my options (as you all know) and pros and cons. STATS: It's only 50 gallons, 36" by 18.5" by 15". There's a 6" by 6" sump intake in the back corner...
