    Let's Talk About ~Algae Control~

If I remember correctly, Cyano is unaffected by light. It doesnt need light to grow.

    Refinance for Lighting?

Has anyone checked out PFO Lighting's new Solaris All LED lighting system? The reviews say that the PAR value of a 75watt system exceeds that of an XM 250 watt system! Plus, half the heat, lower energy costs, no bulb replacement for 11 years, and built in timers and a microprocessor that...

    Odd Snail behavior?

I watched 3 of my sea slugs rear their heads and do an almost simultaneous release event the other day similar to what you describe...I suspect that it is some form of reproduction...kind of like clams do?

    Lobo Brain question

I suspect that you might have what they call a "Candy Cane or Trumpet" coral? Maybe check out Caulastrea furcata or C. echinulata.

    Bacterial Contamination of Frozen Foods

1 gram samples were diluted with 1 ml of sterile saline solution, then spread on Agar plates. Interestingly, where bacteria colonies were "always found in the melted liquid portion of the samples, never in the food organisms themselves. This suggests that the germ load in frozen food is...

    Need advice on closed loop

Hey Don--any reason why a PVC pipe with small holes drilled in it wouldn't work for a return spray bar to sweep across the back wall?

    Lobo Brain question

Lobo's look just like Trachy's, but Lobo's have what I call "teeth" or nubs all over them. Trachy's don't usually "pop out of a tube" though. You might have a Cynarina, or "Meat Coral". These are all pretty related.

Yes--pcx-40. Sorry for the delay--got booted of line...haven't had that happen in a long time. What's a priming cap? Sounds like something for explosives

    Bacterial Contamination of Frozen Foods

Steve, I didn't want to hijack the other thread any more than I already had. In answer to your question about my reference to Vibrio in frozen foods, I found that in the Oct/Nov 2006 Issue of Coral Magazine, Vol. 3 No. 5 Pg. 82 The samples of food found with the Vibrio were specifically...

    Need advice on closed loop

Hi Don, Not drilling. Already set up and full. I have the GenX in use now as the return pump, but it is too powerful for that application...causing cavitation, noise, bubbles, etc. Hence, I have to throttle it back. I have a Mag 7 that I want to use in my 30 gal sump/refugium for the return...

    Lobo Brain question

Are you sure the red is a Lobo, and not a Trachyphyllia? Not trying to insult you--just asking.

    Mandarin Competition

Hi Steve, I don't have any Pyrams. Or any Clams....yet. Was just wondering if, when I do add some clams to my system, since a Six-Line Wrasse would compete with the Mandarin, if there were any other fish which dined on Pyrams yet would not compete with the Mandarin for its food source. I know...

    Need advice on closed loop

Help! I want to add a closed loop to my 75 gal display tank. I have a GenX 4 pump that I want to use for this. My questions are: what do you use as a strainer for the intake in the tank? Any suggestions on the return? Number of outlets? Size? etc. Any input will be appreciated as this is...
