    RODI water question/filter

Remember that unless you have factory spec pressure and temperature, you won't get the rated membrane capacity. For example, with a 50 gpd membrane, 55 degree water, and 42 psi, you'll only get 27 gpd: Because there is little price difference between a 24, 36, 50, and 75 gpd membrane, most...

    RODI water question/filter

Right. Membrane and matched flow restrictor. And don't forget to remove your old restrictor, 24, 36, 50, 75, 100, 150 gpd membranes will all fit in that system. The spec's on those membranes, in terms of how much pressure they need, and in how well they clean the water, vary. Because you...

    RODI water question/filter

Put an RO membrane in front of the DI stage.

    RODI water question/filter

In your system, only the DI removes TDS to any significant extent. So the TDS coming out of the carbon is about the same as your tap water. If your flow was slow enough, then yes, it could bring it down to zero, but after running about 25 gallons of the 200 ppm water through it, the DI would...

    RODI water question/filter

Reason I said the resin was bad when he got it is because he said the first 10 gallons of DI water was 11 ppm TDS...

    RODI water question/filter

From the numbers you provided the DI was shot when you started. With your tap water at 243, you'll get somewhere around 21 gallons from that DI cartridge. Yes - you'll need to install a membrane and matched flow restrictor. Would also recommend that you get a pressure gauge add on kit.

    wierdness with RODI -need help

Yes - you probably know a ton more about your RO system than you would have otherwise... Re your waste water - try extending your waste line to your washing machine. Russ @ BFS

    wierdness with RODI -need help

Just got done reading all the posts here - quite a story. A few odds and ends that may not have been cleared up in the thread: The standard configuration for placing a pressure gauge has the gauge between the last prefilter and the RO membrane "in" port. A drop in pressure over time indicates...

    RO question

If your system has been in use for three years, hopefully your husband sanitized the system when he changed all the filters? Russ @ BFS

    my TDS level

This might help (from our FAQ's): When should I replace my filters? A good rule of thumb is to replace your sediment filter and carbon block after six months. A more precise way to maximize the useable life of these two filters is to use a pressure gauge to identify when pressure reaching the...

    Rodi sytem remodel

The resin beads shrink with use - so you not gettting release of broken beads - the beads simply shrink with use. Russ @ BFS

    TDS readings

Our systems come with very good resin. By "cheap units" I assume you're referring to ebay units rather than those from Buckeye.:D Russ @ BFS

    TDS readings

The last bit of advice - calibrate the meter, is right on. Also make sure the probes are aligned with the small black dots on the tees. Russ @ BFS

    Ro/Di problem

So I'm guessing that means they used Jaco style compression fittings rather than quick connect fittings on that unit?

    Ro/di

If you use an adjustable flow restrictor you can set the waste to permeate ratio at what ever you'd like. 4:1 is a recommended ratio. If you run it lower than that you will shorten the useful life span of the membrane. higher than that and you are needlessly wasting water. Also note that if...

    Ro/Di problem

Filmtec brand membranes, widely considered the best membranes out there, are spec'ed at 77 degrees F water and 50 psi. Many other brands require higher pressure. Regardless, 80 or 90 psi is fine and would increase the performance of the system.

    Ro/Di problem

That unit has a 100 gpd membrane - you can get 110 gpd out of it but not under normal circumstances.
