    Different PVC Skimmer

I was curious one day so I bought a WP2 pump, a WP3 pump and a Euro-Reef NW impeller for a Sedra 3500 from a different store online. I just knew there would be a match. Well when I received the impeller and the pumps NONE of them matched up. I was totally puzzled. I sent back the pumps thinking...

    Does venturi orientation matter?

    DUH! I can't believe I didn't see that.

    Does venturi orientation matter?

Well the venturi itself is not symmetrical on both ends from the center. I would say that it does matter which end you put water through it in order to properly induct air/gas. I wish I could say precicely which end the water should be fed ... I don't know by looking at the pic. Didn't it come...

    Different PVC Skimmer

Well here is a posibility: http://www.aquaticeco.com/index.cfm/fuseaction/product.detail/iid/8787/cid/2142 I'm sure most of you guys have seen these pumps before. I do know that they are compatible with the sedra/Euro-Reef NW impellers. The DP pumps, GenX, Sedra, Resun King, etc... are all the...

    Plastic Dip?

Usually spray cans are cost effective for smaller objects and such. I would check out www.sanitred.com or even this link that shows the materials being used to convert a wood stand into a sump. It's gotta be overkill for what you're doing...

    Different PVC Skimmer

Do you mean air stones? Worth a shot if you don't mind using them. From what I understand they need some maintenance occasionally; more than a needle wheel. With that big skimmer of yours, you'll need more than one.

    Different PVC Skimmer

I would yank that sucker off quick and try the thread wheel mod. You've probably got the right idea with the gutter guard mod too. I am modifying a GX2400 paddle impeller for experimenting with as we speak. I just don't have an air meter to know for a fact if it helps, but I can tell you right...

    Different PVC Skimmer

After your bio ball mod (which I've never done) the impeller is supposed to be able to better chop up the air and handle the air/water mixture better than the paddles. Yes the overall flow rate will be less than with a paddle type impeller, but the skimmer performance is supposed to be...

    Rodi sytem remodel

Don, do you use your RO/DI water for coffee/drinking? I'm definitely not an expert, but I've read somewhere that RO is better for the bod. I T-off the line before the DI to fill an RO drinking water reservoir. I hate to spread bad rumors (if it is untrue), but that is just what I read...

    Rodi sytem remodel

Cool! that's some good info! I had no clue what the timer board cost and it's a relief that it isn't too pricy. Sounds worth while.

    Rodi sytem remodel

This topic is a well worth while DIY for most anyone with an RO/DI unit if the purpose is understood. I’ve seen other DIY methods that help keep the TDS creep down by stopping the unit from briefly kicking on then off therefore supposedly helping with this TDS creep, but this evidently solves...

Where did you aquire the timer board and the pressure switch? I don't recall if you already posted that.

    Just curious any updates?

    Rodi sytem remodel

I never had algae in the RO or RO/DI output lines. I used clear hose for some of the other jumper lines and they are maroon red now because of the rust in my well water.

Ok, the membranes are plumbed inline, but you do have 2 separate wast to drain lines right (one leaving each membrane)?

    Rodi sytem remodel

Since you are using 2 membranes, how are they plumbed? Do you just run them side by side with their own separate feed lines, separate waste water lines, 2 separate flow restrictors and direct both of their outputs to the next stage? I didn't see a booster pump in the pic, but with such a large...

    Different PVC Skimmer

Yup "Thread Wheel": That one seems to be quite a bit more loose than the 3M material though. I'm not sure, but I think that I read that a pump with the Thread wheel needs to be force fed (with water). I just recall reading that. It doesn't look like it could move much water - but would shred...

    Different PVC Skimmer

Just a side note, I just tried a venturi I made for my skimmer. I took off the GenX venturi and put this one on: I started with a 1" barbed fitting: Cut off the barb: Drilled a hole: Then I inserted 1/4" ID tubing into it. It pulls so much air its rediculous. The barbed fitting only cost...
