    Aquabee vs Eheim

I have been running a GX-2400 for 2 weeks or so and I like it. I am having trouble finding that kit you spoke of with the 2 venturis on Kent's site. I was only able to find the standard venturi since their search function is out of order.

    Stuck ball valves

If muratic acid (diluted of course) doesn't work, nothing will. Just thoroughly rinse. Acid dissolves all calcium buildups quickly.

    Multi system Filtration?

I would just start by plumbing the overflows to a large filter sock (removable ~ use when desired) in a sump. Pop in a decent protein skimmer. UV sterilizers are excellent on 55 gal or bigger.

    Air Volume via Needlewheel Pump

I've been running a GX2400 for about a week or more on a skimmer I made. I honestly have no clue just how much air it draws, but it's quite a bit. I like the venturi that it comes with. I should say - not the cap shaped gizmo that sticks to the inlet, but the actual "venturi" that the new ones...

    Air Volume via Needlewheel Pump

http://www.euro-reef.com/products-skimmerstechspec.shtml This page within Euro-Reef's site lists many pumps and how much air is drawn into them.

    power head For Skimmer Bubble

I realize that the "stock venturi" won't work for your application. Maxijet powerheads have the same problem when trying to use their "outlet venturi". That is why they offer a small kit to draw air into the "inlet" of the pump. This is the modification: Don't use your "outlet venturi" plug...

    DIY type Kati Ani filter

    I bought my RO/DI at http://www.filterdirect-water.com/index.html

    DIY type Kati Ani filter

Wow! 6" diameter? That's awful big. My RO/DI unit makes 100 gpd and its DI cartridge is a fraction of that size. To be conservative with your resin I would just buy a little canister for that purpose and just refill it when necessary.

    power head For Skimmer Bubble

I looked up your pump and if this is the same pump then I think this will solve the problem. You may want a small valve on the end of the air line to controll how much air is sucked in.

    RO/DI vs auto top off

http://store.yahoo.com/buywaterfilters/ro5455stag45.html I bought one similar to the one above for about $120.00 which I believe is a great deal for 100 gallon per day ~ 6 stage RO/DI. This price was for the unit without the tank or faucet. The one listed is 85 gpd. I did get mine from this...

    canister filter

I've never used a canister filter with biological filtration media in it. With salt water aquariums usually your live rock and your base is your biological filtration. A canister filter (IMO) only creates maintenance since you have to clean it out periodically regardless whether you use it for...

    ? Euroreef Standpipe ~ DIY ?

I found it at a local plumbing supply shop in Plymouth, Indiana. Cardinal Supply Inc. I was trying to keep "to spec" using a 1-1/4" output for the skimmer. I'll check again maybe that won't make that much of a difference in the skimmer performance (back pressure).

    ? Euroreef Standpipe ~ DIY ?

The pipe that 1-1/4" slides into is "SDR 21" I found it today in 20' lengths. I'm loosing enthusiasm. I think I quit. However bulky the prefab ones are you can't beat the $7.00 convenience.

    ? Euroreef Standpipe ~ DIY ?

SDR: Standard Dimension Ratio is a standard which ensures the same pressure rating for all diameters of pipe. Whether 1" or 24" in size, pipe with a SDR-21 rating have the same pressure rating, such as the common 200 psi (Class 200). Other common sizing is SDR-32.5 Class 125, SDR-26 Class 160...

    Here's a link to Sch 40 & Sch 80 PVC: http://www.harvel.com/pipepvc-sch40-80-dim.asp I'm trying to keep the size down to 1-1/4" to 1-1/2"

    ? Euroreef Standpipe ~ DIY ?

Honestly I don't know. I have been searching and compiling a list (using Excel) of all dimensions of all the pipe sizes I can find. I found this site to be the most useful and it has the "SDR" whatever it is. http://www.harvel.com/pipepvc-sdr-dim.asp The numbers I listed above go like this...

rivdog, you are the shiznit! That is exactly what I'm looking for. I was about to leave for Lowes to check the ID and OD of their pipe to see if that would work. What I'm doing is identical to to what you listed. Thanks for that post just in time too!

http://reefcentral.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=146279&papass=&sort=1&thecat=500 This is a drawing of what I had in mind. More work than I would prefer, but a sure shot way to make it long lasting and maintenance free. So far the closest tolerances are: 1-1/2" Schedule 80---------2"...

    ? Euroreef Standpipe ~ DIY ?

I have seen the standard PVC repair couplings at Lowes, they are just so big and bulky. I'd like to either find a more slim-line type or make my own. I have the use of a lathe so making O-ring grooves shouldn't be a problem. I’m thinking 1 pipe fitting pretty close tolerance into another. I...
