    RO/DI Filtration

Hi, I purchased a well reviewed RO/DI system from a LFS. I set it up this morning and started running it. I am having a problem though. I made 30-35 gallons of waste water while only making 2-3 gallons of usable water. What am I doing wrong? Thanks, Dan

    ID Please

Can anyone ID the red nodules growing on the rock? They are about the size of a pencil eraser. Thanks, Dan

    Son of Lighting Question

    Hello All - I have an IceCap 660 ballast that I used to run 4 x 48" VHO. I am downsizing from a 55 gallon to a 40 gallon breeder (36 x 18 x 16). I'd like to use my old ballast with either a 4 x 36" VHO arrangement or a 4 x 96 watt PC. My questions is, which is better? I plan on having...

    Nano Tank HOB Filter

Krish, Thanks for the advice. I was leaning that way. I'm considering switching to a Remora Nano, just need to save my pennies. By the way, nice tank stand. Dan

    Nano Tank HOB Filter

Good Morning, I have started up a 5.5 gallon reef tank (rising out of the ashes of the 55 wiped out by the power outage), and am curious what the best configuration would be for the Aqua Clear 20 I am using for filtration. Should I use the foam filter block as I would on a FW tank, or will I...

    Reef Calendars

Most of the major malls around Puget Sound have a store called Calendar Club. They're usually open until the second or third week of January. They have some pretty nice reef calendars. This link has some samples. http://www.calendars.com/xq/asp/PID.1/MGID.2/IID.32154/qx/product.htm Happy...

    Tank Wiped Out

Thanks much for the support! Still no power, but the generator has been a lifesaver for the FW tank. I set up a 10 gallon "rescue tank" just in case I saw any signs of life in the SW tank.Saved 4 Nassarius snails last night. One thing that did amaze me though is the sheer number (>30) of...

    Tank Wiped Out

Thanks for the words.... I bought a generator last night, and picked up 10 gallons of fuel. I should not have waited as long as I did, but i was "just sure the power was going to come on any minute." Freshwater tank survived OK, only lost a few Australian rainbows. It's back on power now...

OK, thanks. Now all I need is a needle. Maybe I should hit a methadone clinic. Cheers, Dan

    Koralia Powerhead

Those look pretty neat. I'd like to get my hands on one. Anyone know if there is a store in the Puget Sound area that carries them? Thanks for the heads up Krish! Dan

Do they eat Majanos too? Thanks, Dan

    Majano Anemone Outbreak

I really appreciate all of the feedback. I think what I'll need to do is evaluate the individual pieces of rock and deal with them on a rock by rock basis. The stuff with "good" things growing on it will obviously need to be dealt with more delicately. The base rock, I can be a bit more blunt...

    Majano Anemone Outbreak

Thanks for the suggestions. Had a Copperband for a few days, but the Sailfin Tang was beating the crap out him, so he went back to BS. If I were to get a Raccoon, would it be best to put him in the problem tank alone to work on the anemones? Thanks, Dan

    Majano Anemone Outbreak

I considered that, but I think it would really stink up the house.

    Majano Anemone Outbreak

Hello All - My 55 FOWLR tank has been pretty much taken over by Majano Anemones. Have been able to stay on top of the Aiptasia, but the Majanos have spread like wildfire. I'm to the point where I am going to set up two more tanks. One to put the fish in during the clean-up and one to put...
