    A Saga: Nikki's 120 gallon

I'm so happy that you've gotten over the algae blues. Great news! Yeah, the wrasses are so cute!!! Can you post a pic of the new setup (for the returns)?

    A Saga: Nikki's 120 gallon

Hi Nikki, Sounds like the tang and foxface are just working out dominance issues with displays - no real aggression. They need to work out who's top dog before everyone can settle down peaceably. The foxface will probably end up being the biggest fish, so will eventually become top dog. I'm...

    A Saga: Nikki's 120 gallon

Great news on the algae!!! I like your fish! My 6-line won't eat flake food, I buy frozen plankton and he loves it. I only feed him a speck of it because I have a lot of mini-crustaceans and pods. He'll probably harass any shrimp you get for the tank, just a heads-up.

Hi Vina!! Your tanks is SO gorgeous! Oops, two months later - I gotta get online more often. Same old lights on my tank (250W - 20K MHs and 165W Actinics). But, I'm downsizing, after talking about it for ages, to a 120 (4'x2'x2'). Will keep my absolute favorite corals and fish. I'd be...

    Need Your Input

Hi Jiddy, Congrats on your soon-to-be tank. Be cautious about the black sand that you don't know where it came from. You want to make sure any sand you put in the tank is pure aragonite sand. Your black sand may be silica sand - which can make your beautiful tank a green slimey algae factory...

Thanks, snobanker!!! Congrats on your new 180!! Nikki, I found your thread and replied there on my idea for dealing with the algae. Saw your clams - cool :) You guys can move this thread to the 'member tanks' forum, if you want. I think I started it before you had that forum.

    A Saga: Nikki's 120 gallon

Hi Nikki! Yikes, you do have algae problems! Put a powerhead blowing across the front of the rocks! Humor me on this, okay? I'll bet you a quarter, that in about three weeks you'll see a big improvement! See, that's what I was saying in that other thread - even without added nutrients, the...

    Just a tank pic

Hi Mike, Thanks! You're actually great - I know you're busy. But, I would like to see how your monster looks with all the corals in it. :) Hi Nikki, Thanks! :) Nope, no new equipment or products. I did take most of the zoanthids out - just kept a couple of colonies that were pretty compact...

    Just a tank pic

I was looking for some recent pics of Mike's tank, it's been a while (hint, hint) :) Anyway, realized I hadn't posted any pics of my tank for a year, figured a pic is in order, everything's really grown! I finally got over the big hurdle, and decided to downsize to a smaller tank. I'll...

    Flow in a BB system?

Thanks, Mike!! I think I'll give it a try; blowing out the rocks less often. And, I'll take a look at the siphon stuff, like you recommended, too. Hah, all my urchin eats is coralline (sigh). Mike, do you have any pics of your tank, since the re-aquascape? Last pics I saw you were placing...

    Flow in a BB system?

Hi Nick! Good to see you! I'm pretty obsessive about getting that stuff out every week, so I figure that's about what the tank produces in one week. Sigh, yeah, I need a smaller tank that's easier to maintain. That's the best of both worlds. Hi Mike, I thought the grit sized stuff was...

    Flow in a BB system?

Hi Nick, Mike, Mark,... My tank's barebottom & I get a fair amount of grit/sand sized detritus, in addition to the usual silt-sized detritus. The tank's 3 years old, and consistently produces about the same amount between siphoning. I assume it's mulm (is that the word?) - bacterial pressure...
