Hi Mike!! Yeah, it's that link below my last post. It's actually a series about sumps, but the last article is devoted to overflows. Some wonderful info there!

Anyone know where I can get internal overflows built?

Hi Scott! Wow - that's so cool! I didn't realize they made AGA tanks that big, thought they were all acrylic in the huge sizes? I estimated the weight of my 260 at about 4K lbs! The acrylic is 3/4 inch thick. Yeah, the coast to coasts are awesome! Did you read Greg's articles about...

Let's Talk About "Coral placement, where, why?"

Hi Nikki, I acclimate about the same way, that's after floating the bag, of course. Generally, I measure salinity and pH and keep adding a half cup of tank water every 15 mins until the bagged coral params match the tanks. But, in cases where the coral has been shipped (and has been in the...

Let's Talk About "Coral placement, where, why?"

Great topic, Scott! The trouble is that everyone has different light setups and water circulation so it's hard to do more than generalize (high/low light, high/low circulation). I acclimate everything at the bottom (unless it's an acro that I know is used to high light - even then I'll put it...

    Lets Talk About ~Reef Chemistry~

Mike, I thought it took two Carbonate ions with one Ca ion (and that's why Carbonate is limiting? I'm not cheating and looking this up, am going by memory, so maybe wrong. Also, since there's usually plenty of carbonate around in the tank, is it really limiting?

    Lets Talk About ~Reef Chemistry~

I wanna play, too! All my best advice comes from Mike who told me; 1. Ca is just as available to corals at 420 ppm as it is at 475ppm. 2. the higher the salinity of your water the more Ca it can hold - so 35ppt salinity is pretty important for keeping your Ca levels in a good range. 3...
