First "Real" test results of my tank

First "Real" test results of my tank

The tip is equal in volume to the air gap, thus you have to be certain that the tip is air tight to the syring, otherwise their will be air escaping into the syringe and you won't really be drawing up 1 ml. And if you don't use the tip ( mine broke) then your just have to make sure the muniscus...

cal/alk and ph not sure if this is a problem in my tank...

Okay so my reading were as follows: I've now started using 1/2 tablespoon of kalk overnight Tuesday cal 400, alk 9.9 Wednesday ( forgot to write it down but cal and alk were a bit lower) Thursday cal 370, alk 9.6 so this would imply that I should be adding more kalk to my topoff water? ( I...

cal/alk and ph not sure if this is a problem in my tank...

Thanks I'll try the kalk first, I like how it can be added over a slower period of time. How much should be used? I'm assuming it's dependent on the amount of cal used by the tank? I'm going to start with 1/3 of a teaspoon in a gallon of RO water overnight, and I'll watch the cal and alk...

cal/alk and ph not sure if this is a problem in my tank...

So my levels are finally Alkalinity 9.9 (3.54) Calcium 400ppm ( going to try and get it a bit higher) pH 8 (fluctuates slightly but i'm not that concerned anymore) Now how do I keep it at these levels I will be doing weekly waterchanges 1.Additives? ( a & b)...

My first and Only tank ( 30g)..so far ;)

I was going to ask, how long do zoa's normally take to clean themselves? a few of my colonies are now closed and have a brownish skin on them, once this falls off they will open...or I'm hoping they will....will they or is there something wrong with them now? I also think my bulb is nearing the...

My first and Only tank ( 30g)..so far ;)

Well since the sump addition I managed to kill half my corals, so I'm more or less going to have to start again. I'm just concerned that I might kill more stuff if I add anything else. I've also finally have my cal/alk almost at the right level. I added some new powerheads A seio M620, and the...

    Candycane is having some problems

Will do, I've been trying, but I guess adding the part B and kalk was bonding to the calcium since alk was high already? BAd me!!! So just part 1(A) I just noticed one of my zoa frags spewing brown stuff into the watercolumn, my candycane is the closest coral to this colony...( there was...

    Candycane is having some problems

Unfortunatly I can't take a pic of the candycane, my boyfriend took the camera with him to hawaii. I'm struggling with calcium, last night after addition of part A ( 1ml) it was 390 this morning it was at 350, overnight I dripped Kalk ( just 1/3 of a teaspoon to start with) no idea where it's...

    Candycane is having some problems

sorry I didn't make myself clear. The pic is not of the candycane, it's of Briareum asbestinum a Gorg. I think. It's the only new coral in the tank so I was wondering if the pictured species could be affecting the candycane? ( I'm not exactually sure what species that pictured coral is, I...

    Candycane is having some problems

hello again...you guys were really helpful before and I was wondering if you could help me again. So my tank has more or less bounced back, everything is doing well. Except now my Candy Coral (Caulastrea furcata) the pieces that survived the fuge addition look like their melting and spewing...

Can anyone ID this? please don't tell me it's a peat anenome...

When I was feeding last night I noticed it opening up. It's still under the rock so I couldn't get a pic. But I will try. he's a sneaky bugger, but I'll win ;) He's the size of a dime, my fish are small but not quite that small!! I was more worried about it reproducing like aptasia or Mojo.

    Hector's goby

Steve you scared me SO BADLY!!! he's tail glimmers white when he moves, so I've been starting at him ( making him extreamly uncomfortable) for the last ten minutes. I'm almost 100% sure that that is just sand in the backround. It was hard to tell with the glimmering, constant tail moving and...

    Sump/fuge plans....will this work?

yeah the bag of sand ( which did settle for a while before the tanks were attached, my original sand was the same, except expired, and I never really had an initial spike) and the pistol shrimp chaos, okay so it wasn't all his fault he was just being himself and moved the pvc pipping my rocks...

Can anyone ID this? please don't tell me it's a peat anenome...

Sorry evidently I'm not the best at spelling, or editing....can anyone tell me what this is, I just recently noticed it on my rock, I believe it moved off a zoa frag I picked up. Another rock was covering it, so it's been in the dark.

    Hector's goby

Your right it's a M620 Seio ( was reading it upside-down and through the glass!) they did better today with feeding time( the came out and battled the current) I think I will be turning off the sump return for feeding, it seems to have more effect of the current then the seio( which is pointed...

    Sump/fuge plans....will this work?

yeah I mounted it with silicone on all three sides, I guess I just didn't use enough on the front ( I tried too hard to make it look neat I think). most of the bottom and the back are still attached, so It's still doing it's job. And the evap is still only occuring in the return section ( I...
