    Bryopsis only thread

I think the Blue Coral method is keeping everything at the upper most limits: CA 500+ DKH - 12+ Mg - 1500 -1600PPM I think it also uses human growth hormones or something like that. It is used by Italian Reefkeepers. That is what I got from reading about two pages ofa thread on RC about it...

    Bryopsis only thread

In my case, it didn't knock anything else out of balance because once I noticed the minor bleaching that I am having, I tested everything and they were all in the safe range. The bleaching I think has stopped, so I definitely think it was raising it to fast in my case. I have RBTA and it is...

I used the Kent Tech M Magnesium, I do think it was due to it being raised too quickly. I shook the bottle really well and there was not any undissolved particles when I added it.

    Minor Bleaching

I raised the Magnesium in my tank to 1500PPM and it has caused a little bleaching. Nothing is stark white but I would like to know if there is anything I can do to help the corals? I am doing a water change to lower the Magnesium although I believe it was caused by me raising it to quickly...

Some of my corals are bleaching too. I think it is due to raising the Mag level too quickly. They aren't doing too bad except for one patch of Zoos. Most have just lightened in color. Most of the bryopsis has died after I do the water change the levels should come done. I am buying some...

    Let's See Some Macros

The Kodak is a point and shoot. You can't adjust the white balance or anything. I used had to mess with the manual settings a lot to get that one! It does have a lens adaptor, you use Macro filters (I guess that is what they are called?) they screw onto the front of the lens. I don't have...

It was Kent Tech M. My magnesium is around 1500 right now.

Yeah, I don't get that either. I am being patient and we will see how it goes.

To help the mag in my case, I bought some Zeomag to put in the calcium reactor. This is basically dolomite and it is supposed to help maintain mag levels. You make it about 10 - 15% of your media in your reactor.

This was a great idea thanks for documenting this. The tips of some of the longer strands of bryopsis has turned white in my tank after raising the mag. Would you say that it is about 50% gone already?

    Reeflux 10k's pink?

Here is the bulb I was referring to the 14K Iwasaki bulbs: http://www.premiumaquatics.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Product_Code=14K-175IW&Category_Code=mh-175w Like you said they don't have a 250 watt version. I was surprised how little options there is out there for 250 Watt bulbs.

I raised the Magnesium in my tank as well. I didn't have it really bad but bad enough. I will let you know how it goes as well.

    Reeflux 10k's pink?

I personally hated the color of the Reeflux 10k's. Mine were quite pink and even when I got a used one and it was pink as well. I ran them with actinic supplementation and eventually traded them out. I have the 14K Iwasaki 175watt bulbs now and have never been happier! I went from the...

Fish List - Possible New Additions

Yeah, he is getting really territorial! He has been flaring his fins at the Anthias. They are eating flake and I fed New Spectrum pellets and they ate them readily. I will be feeding them for now twice a day. I am planning on purchasing an auto feeder and have it feed around noon while I am...

Fish List - Possible New Additions

I hope I didn't scare you off Leebca! I understand about the Tang. I have been thinking about and have decided to either sell him to someone in my club or take him to the LFS for credit. He is a great looking fish but just too big for the 90. I might get some Fairy Wrasses instead. I did...

Here is the best I have been able to do: This was taken with a Kodak Z740 with macro lenses attached.

Fish List - Possible New Additions

Not a problem, Leebca. I thought the Tomini Tang was similar to a Kole tang that it didn't need the larger tanks? Liveaquaria says that minimum tank sie is 70 gallons: http://www.liveaquaria.com/product/prod_Display.cfm?pCatId=334 It also states that they get up to a max of 6" are other...

Fish List - Possible New Additions

Okay I have a 90 gallon tank and that has the following fish in it: 1. Two False Percula Clowns 2. Midas Blenny 3. Tomini Tang I had a Royal Gramma and Three Chromis. I wanted to reduce the bioload so I could add a Scribbled Foxface (Signatus Doliatus) to help with hair algae and bryopsis...
