Thanks for the replies so far. Is ARSA the same as the red sea aquarium?

your fav. W. Wa. fish stores to go to

I am thinking of heading over the the Seattle area at the end of the month and was planning on taking a day to check out all the stores in the area that are nice. I figured asking some of the locals would be the best way. It has been years since I have made it around to a lot of the stores...

    Talk about FLOW:) 2 MP10's in a 57 gallon

I just put two MP10's in my rimless 57 gallon, those along with my Ehiem 1260is making it pretty nice in there. I am going to do all SPS so I wanted a lot of flow, honestly I think I could have gone with two 20's but I wanted the smaller size of the 10's in the tank. The flow the VorTechs put...

    Stand Integrity Question

I really find it so amusing how so many people build their stands, yes it will be holding a lot of weight but it's an aquarium, not a tank! I totally understand being safe but has anyone really looked at most of the stuff that is commercially available? It is so much less that what everyone...

    Seeking advice

I think it will all work well for you. There is no "one" way to have a very successful reef tank, many different options and combinations will work great. When I got into the hobby years ago, that was one of my first lessons, never listen to anyone who says this is the only way. The only thing...

    hair algae

I would say water changes with good RODI water and maybe cutting back a little on your photo period. Maybe a couple turbo snails or an emerald crab.

ATI Sunpower & remote contorl light lift

The one I have will lift 400 LBS so I think I am a little under the weight limit with my HUGE light:D lol. I really was not hard to hook up. I ran a plug in outlet to the are and braced it up plumb and level. As long as you get everything lined up It will work like a charm. Glad you guys like.

ATI Sunpower & remote contorl light lift

I have been setting up a new 57 gallon rimless tank. I was planning on the new TEK Elite T5 set up but decided I did not want to wait so I went with the ATI Sunpower instead. I have never had hanging lights before and wanted a way to easily raise and lower them. After thinking about it a bit...

    aiptasia????

I'm pretty sure these are a developmental stage of a jellyfish and nothing at all to worry about. The jelly fish never gets past this stage without becoming fish food.

    Built a Stand

Here is the stand I build for my 57 gallon rimless. All I used was 3/4 cherry plywood held together with glue and pocket screws, very easy and fast to put together. Yours lools like it will be very nice! Good, job.

    Biocubes?

IMO if you do regular water changes you will have no problems. I have been running a 14 gallon biocube for a year now with no problems at all. If you are very slack on the water changes you will probably have some issues. I would say go for it.

    Brian's new money pit

Is the acrylic going to be able to handle the prolonged exposure to that much heat?

    Need Advice on Filtration Equipment.

you could use a rubbermaid tub for a sump and put your money into a good skimmer. I would get the best skimmer you can afford and the biggest especially if you are going to upgrade to a 125 some day. I would just keep it simple if this is not a permanent tank set up.

    Need Advice on Filtration Equipment.

That is a very broad question. Everyone could give you a different answer. A lot depends on how much you want to spend. When you say the best, that could get very expensive. I would just go with a sump and get rid of the filters. Add a very good skimmer to it. There are many good skimmers...

    refugium substrate?

Hey everyone, Thacks for all the replies. I am not new to the hobby of reef keeping. I have been doing it for about 7 - 8 years now. I have always used a berlin system. I am good with building things out of acrylic so I built my own system. I made two separate sumps to maximize the small...

    refugium substrate?

Let see if I can get some advise here. I have a 40 gallon that has been running for some time. I just built a new sump and refugium for it. The refugium will be lit by 2 28 watt PC lights. The dimensions for the refugium are small, 13" long 10 1/2 wide and 16" tall. There will be about 13...
