    diy skimmer build!!

Willy, Thanks for the download. Useing the converter 10scfh=283lph & 15scfh=424lph So, if Luke is correct about the WP700 only doing 10-15schf & I go with 500 lph per 100g display for sps rule, I think I'm safe with the WP700 on a 3" neck for my tank. What do you all think?

    diy skimmer build!!

So, for my 55g that has a total water volume of about 75g, I should be looking for 275lph? How do I convert scfh to lph?

    The Sterile Tank method!

The monoculture is just a theory at best right now, and I don't buy it. However, time will tell as the research advances in this area.

    diy skimmer build!!

Yeah, It's going to be a recirc. I've never heard of the 6oolph of air per 100gal of tank volume rule for SPS. So, I hope someone can chime in. How do I convert scfh to lph? How many layers of mesh are you going with?

    diy skimmer build!!

freetareef, What size tank are you building this for? I'm building mine for a 55g BB SPS system. I was thinking of using the wp700. I'm told that modded it will pull 20scfh. I want to run the tank at ULNS. Do you think 20scfh will be aggressive enough?

    diy skimmer build!!

A 3" diameter neck can handle ~20scfh, and 4" can handle ~30scfh. The odyssea wp1000 will pull 35scfh+ modded but they are a bit noisy The above info is from members of an other forum. You can use a cut out tool like the Dremel to mod the 4 way to accept the larger neck.

    diy skimmer build!!

What a great coincidence! I am doing the exact same build (Basically a RANDY STACEY skimmer). I'm using 6" PVC for the body @ 15" height. I also used the 4 way drain as the transition to the 3" neck and was also looking at the oddysea pumps. However, it was recommended to by some people on the...

    Fish in danger from urchins?

I thought long spines only eat algae? I've never read about them eating SPS

    live rock question

I agree that not all macro algae is welcome in the display tank. That's why I requested a pic. However, If the problem is caused from high nutrients, drying it out wont solve the problem. You would need to *cook* the rock. ______________________________________________________ SeanT's (from reef...

    live rock question

The *green weed* could be a good macro algae or it could be a bad algae like hair algae. If it's good, leave it alone. If it's bad, then it's most likely caused from a nutrient problem like too much PO4. Got a Pic?

    Vodka

I've been following vodka dosing for a while, and I've seen way more success stories than horror stories. However, it is a method that you want to do you due diligence on.

Maxijet with upgrade kit on wavemaker

If you're talking about the sureflow kit, You do not want to run them on wave makers that stop and start the pumps. This will drasticly decrease the life of the pumps. Look for wave makers that just slow the pumps down then speed them up. Like the Seio controller
