    I need MH advice!!!!

Well.......what about 150w or 175w pendants (or another form) in the 14K range. (3 maybe for a 6' tank???) Would that be less intensive for the softies, with the "cool" shimmers and no need to supplement with VHO's? Would it still be white or will the tank always look blue. Sorry, like I said...

Can someone please tell me what this is?

I've had these in my tanks before, if they are what I am thinking, then they are not an anemone but a very small long tentacle mushroom coral. (I need to find the article I have on these guys and I will try to post it in the next day or so). I believe they are harmless and like low light. They...

Can anyone refer a structural engineer?

Dennis, Thanks so much for your pm, I appreciate your help! I copied a portion of one of my replies into this thread because it occured to me that my posts might have been a little confusing  . I do feel confident with my setup so far and hopefully the first phase is covered, thanks!

    125g thru-wall dream project

Leveling question????? First off, let me know if I should post this in a new thread!!! I ran into a problem after filling the tank up. Thought it was totally level but one corner is about 1/8" high. I emptied it and am now trying to figure out how to go about re-leveling it. The big problem...

In your opinion what is the best HOB skimmer?

I'm tagging along! I have a Remora Pro on a 55 and love it! I was going to put two of them on my project that is still under construction, however if there are better HOB's then I want to know all about it!

    Got insurance?

I have always been dedicated to State Farm personally. They weren't able to provide enough coverage for our business liability so our business is covered with Safeco. (but our home office is covered by State Farm) However, 10 years ago we were issued a certificate for guaranteed renewal for life...

    Got insurance?

Brenden, I thought the manufacturers warranty was only valid if placed on thieir own stand? Am I wrong? My tank is not top of the line, it is All-Glass and they are very picky about their warranties. How did you go about getting Farmers to cover a leak from a cause other than a natural...

    Got insurance?

Will Farners cover water damage and all? What do you mean by explodes:eek: ? If it is a homeowner error in the setup that causes the break is it still covered??? (State Farm said "no way") Also, how are the fish covered? Obviously they are'nt covered when they die of old age:rolleyes: . Is it...

    Got insurance?

Just to clarify....It (the tank) has to be part of the house (for the damage that the tank breaking would cause) to be covered under the homeowners insurance policy. Sorry if that was confusing in my last post.

    Got insurance?

Ok! I got some really interesting news! Because my newest tank is being built through the wall and all of the construction is making this a permanent part of the dwelling, the tank itself becomes a part of the "dwelling". State Farm told me to submit the construction pictures and the end...

    Got insurance?

Scott, Don, That's smart, I will definately look into the rider. We run a business out of our home and had to get a rider for our home office so hopefully there is some sort of rider for the tank. And like you said Don, hopefully there is another add on for water damage. I'll make the call...

Anemone fought the PH and lost :-(

Sanders, Power heads are not the only dangerous thing that an anemone can stumble upon. If your heater is in the main tank that also needs pvc or something around it. My powerheads are all covered but I did have an almost mishap a year or two ago with a heater that an anemone got too close to...

    Got insurance?

I had a similar situation and I was on vacation too. When we returned home we found water in our basement and the main water pipe had cracked inside the wall. Our homeowners did not cover it because the break was due to an old pipe and not a tree falling on our house etc.... We had to pay out...

VHO by themselves or did you mean in addition to the MH?

    I need MH advice!!!!

That's funny, I was just thinking the same thing when your post came through. As a matter of fact I was reading up on the T5's as being comparable to MH without the heat and higher costs of running them. I'm going to do some searches and see what kind of info I can pull up on this type of...

Thanks, I'm waiting patiently for Aquarium Extreme to get their product catalog back on line. That part of the site is shut down at the moment for inventory or something.

    125g thru-wall dream project

I have power from two circuits running to the inside of the wall. Neither are dedicated only to the tank though.

Can anyone refer a structural engineer?

The joists were parrallel. He cut out the ceiling in the basement and added 5 more joists along side the original 2. He added headers (not sure if this is the correct term) underneath the joists which became the side walls of the closet in the basement. The walls of the closet are anchored to...
