That was the same for me for years, Shallowreef. However, that could be other factors. Higher nitrate, higher phosphate, nipping fish, etc. My SPS extend like crazy at night, but I'm seeing some nice furry corals in my tank during the day time as well finally. Help with my home made Sump - anyone have last minute suggestions
What size tank is this sump for? 25' is a long haul. The water should drain into the sump from above preferably. You don't need yet one more elbow. The pipe should be secured, and only be submerged 1" at the most. If that tank is 18" tall, you could probaly have the baffles at 12" tall...- Marc

tank cleaning
I never clean it, because I clean the other viewing panels well. So if my snails get hungry enough, the back wall is for their dining enjoyment. Plus, if you end up scratching your tank a number of times, you may be able to turn the tank around to make the back panel the front, and get more...- Marc

DIY Phytoplankton Culture Station
I've used home grown phyto for years. Orginally I was buying the largest bottle of DT's every month, and that was expensive. Growing your own is economical. Especially if you grow rotifers to feed to new fry or to your corals. I'm not a chemist, but we know that copper is bad for our tanks...- Marc

MACNA 2005 Pics
They are still in development, and beta testers will get to try them out in December. The plan is to release them in February via the normal online vendors. The cost has not been determined yet, but it should be a little less than the Tunze Streams with magnets. There shouldn't be waiting...- Marc
