Skimmate....or should I say lack of

There is also a set screw inside the unit that has to be removed and then you clean the injector with the included "pipe" brush. Also, make sure you have a filter on the Mag input so big chunks don't clog the injector.

    Red Bugs

Tanks for the update... I've noticed some red bugs on my tricolor. They don't seem to drift to the other acros. My Oregon tort looks fine. They are lightly glued... so I think I will just pull them out, dip them, then re-glue them. Rinse, repeat as necessary. Sorry to hear about the...

    Bad tank day...

Thanks for the replies... I plan on doing hypo. The reason I need a 55 is so I can put all of my fish in there so my display tank is entirely empty of fish. I've never treated ich before so maybe I'm wrong in my thinking... WSM is indeed white striped maroon. My other train of thought is...

    Hello, new to the board

Welcome! It's always great to see people from this side of the water on the boards ;)

    Bad tank day...

Woke up this morning to see white spots all over my WSM, Bubba  Rest of the fish seem to be ok for now. I'm desperately searching for a good size hospital tank. (I think I have found a 55G close by). Then, I'm feeding my corals and notice my acro is "crawling"... Seems it has...

    Very Big Anemone

I would just sell it or upgrade your tank... They do get huge and so do the maroons. I have a bubble tip that has been dinner plate size for over a year and hasn't split. My maroon is close to 6" long. I would say neither inhabitant is a good fit for a 24g.

    Dosing equipment

Not sure what you mean, but I put about 20ml of each solution in the 5 gallon jug of RO/DI top-off water and let it drip into my main tank. The 5 gallons of water lasts about a week when I have my fans running. Now that it is getting cooler, I will slow the drip down and shut my fans off...

    Dosing equipment

I have the 5G gravity fed doser by Kent. It works fine for me. I just use a 2 part product (like this...https://www.marinedepot.com/ps_viewItem~idProduct~EV1113.html) Compared to the rest of the tank maintenance, filling my doser is relatively painless.

    ~~PSAS 2007-2008 Season Kickoff~~ James Fatherree Sept. 22nd talking CLAMS~~

Time to put my new membership to good use! I've been a member now for approximately 5 hours. Most likely, I will be attending the meeting on Saturday. Am I supposed to buy the raffle tickets now or at the door?

    Rose Milli keeps growing

I like the mix of softies and SPS. Do you have any LPS? If so, do you use a carbon reactor or anything?

One week after set up and tank done cycling????

As much as that Tang eats... I need to send him a grocery bill.

Planning a Nanoreef, Plenty of Q's

Much better option. Most people get halides for clams and SPS because it is the easiest way to get through 2 feet of water. Lots of light in a small space. It also provides a single source of light, so you get the cool shimmering effects. However, when your tank is only 12" deep you don't...

Planning a Nanoreef, Plenty of Q's

Use approximately 1lb of rock per one gallon water. Of course not all rock is created equal... get some good porous rock. No boulders. Aquascaping can be tricky in a nano so make sure you also pick for shape. I think your lighting will cook everything in your tank... no need for metal...

Elos system 60 using the 'Purist Line'

I love that tank. Aren't they giving away a bigger version of that system in the raffle? I bought a ticket, but I wasn't certain what they were exactly giving away.

    rose anemone propagation

One of the recent Coral magazines shows how to propogate via cutting the anemone. You may want to try to find the issue. I do remember that the author cut the anemone in 2 laterally with the mouth. It looked pretty disturbing... but it worked.

My "Behind the Scenes" tour of the Seattle Aquarium

It was a last minute thing... I happened to be in Seattle at school and was able to connect with Steve. I wish I would have had a camera. You all should have seen the live rock they brought back from Hawaii... beautiful stuff. porous, light, and full of life.

My "Behind the Scenes" tour of the Seattle Aquarium

I want to thank Steve for the tour of the Seattle Aquarium. It was an awesome experience to see how they maintain their tanks. I was suprised to learn that the city of Seattle actually owns the aquarium and because of that, the employees there have to get creative with the tanks. They aren't...

What are some signs of when a toadstool is going to die?

My Kenya's always seemed to open up furthest in a lower flow... that is, when the tree is slowly waving back and forth.

    Naso Tang

I'm temporarily holding a Naso for a friend. It's a frickin' pig. Eats anything I throw at it, but I can tell it wants some room to "stretch it's legs." However, my Kole Tang is more suited for our size tanks. It's more of a grazer and doesn't get as big.
