    New Skimmer!

are these dramatically better than the coralife ? Curious if it is worth upgrading or only marginally better.

    Metal Halides

Does anyone no the answer to the following. I have a 36 inch 70 gallon oceanic tank with a canopy. I'm thinking of upgrading to Metal Hallides. I currently never close the canopy but the wood frame does go around the perimeter of the tank. Now for the question. I assume most legs attach to the...

    Jebo/Odyssa from Aquatraders

Curious on the Odyssea light fixtures as well. Certainly priced the best. $250 for a 36" with MH, actinic and moon. Comparable Orbit or coralife is $420. It would be nice to save the money if possible.

    Should I upgrade my lights?

Is anyone familiar with Odyssea lighting ? The price is right but I hear it is not UL listed.

    Mushrooms and polyps

Thanks for the input Kevin. There lies the mystery as nothing has changed much but the mushrooms are shrinking. It just shows how sensitive a closed environment can be on living animals.

    Mushrooms and polyps

The tank is only 4 months old and has a coralife lighting system with a total of 193watts (no MH) for a 70g tank (36" wide so a little deeper than than the typical 48" tank). Chems have always been steady with slightly high nitrates but recently lowered the nitrates from 40ppm to around 20ppm...

    Mushrooms and polyps

Hello all - need some information based on others experience. Some of my mushrroms which used to spread out to be quite large now look very shrivelled. They don"t actually appear to be dying but have become the size of a dime or smaller when they used to be bigger than a half dollar. Any idea...

Help! How do I clean my sump?

Major water change this weekend. Close to 30% ( I know, too high but nitrates were getting closer to 40ppm). Amazingly, the long tenacle seemed much happier. Came out from behind the rocks and opened up to double the size I have seen recently. I also cleaned all filter pads and sponges and...

Help! How do I clean my sump?

just so you know, water changes didn"t work for me. I guess if filter socks, filter sponges and bio balls are not properly maintained, they can increase levels much quicker than water changes can help reduce them. I'll keep you posted.

Help! How do I clean my sump?

Thanks, I have been hit hard by the reef aquarium bug and think about my tank constantly. I have about 90lbs of live rock for a 70gal tank. A bit nervous about removing the bio balls though but will do it very slowly. Has anyone tried any of the chemical (absorbant) items sold at the lfs ...

Help! How do I clean my sump?

I have had a similar problem but my nitrates are even higher - 30ppm. Strangely enough my corals look fine (soft only) and my long tenacle also appears healthy although he went under some rocks for a few days which I thought was strange. I have a filter pad that the water passes over in my sump...
