    T-5 is a common name for staight fluorescent lights that are approximately 5/8" in diameter. T-8 fluorescents are approximately 1" (8/8") in diameter. T-12 fluorescents are approximately 1.5" (12/8") in diameter. My understanding is that the thinner bulbs are more efficient.

    Upgrading my lighting - need advice.

    I'm a newbie and trying the 4 foot T-5 units that I purchased at the place Roosevelt. They came with the bulbs, mounts, built-in electronic ballasts and cord. They were a piece of cake to mount under my hood.
