Bloke's 180g - It was bound to happen...

If you'll notice, anywhere there were two holes on the same vertical plane, I wanted support. The four holes outside the overflow boxes would be supportred by the box itself, the outer glass pane, and naturally the frame. The holes in the middle align with the center bracing and in closer...

Bloke's 180g - It was bound to happen...

I finally got the remainder of the holes drilled. That's 12 holes! Four holes 2-3/8" and eight holes 1-3/4". I will put the bulkheads in place and take a look on Monday. I have four 1-1/2" heavy duty bulkheads for the lower four intakes and 8 light duty 1" bulkheads for the return...

LOL - the popcorn is being added because that is how the rest of the house was done. It's important to me for the basement to reflect consistent patterns with upper levels of the house. The remainder of the house has acoustic ceilings and knock0don textured walls therefore, the same for these...

Drywall is almost completely hung. It still needs to be taped, etc. and then the ceiling sprayed and walls textured. It's coming along. Perhaps next weekend I can have some students over to paint. :D

YEE HAW! They delivered drywall today! But as you can see, I am not ready for them to hang it yet! They are scheduled to be here early tomorrow morning and I still am missing the header for the tank as well as cable and phone lines to each room. I built the header first since it was going to...

Well, I've called it good for the weekend. After David left I managed to put the final nailers along the window wall and then installed four can lights in the den. The drywall is being delivered tomorrow and being hung on Tuesday. I still need to put in the header for the tank and run the...

Bloke's 180g - It was bound to happen...

Well, I've officially crossed the point of no return. David (dngspot) came by today for a little bit and we drilled the first four holes for the closed loop; four 2 3/8" holes to feed two external pumps. All went well - except for my thumb on the already damaged hand which now has a...

LMAO! This house is three years old!

Tomorrow I have to finish the header over the tank as well as put a few nailers in for the drywall. I believe the drywall will be hung this coming week! Which should mean that I'll have the tank in place before too long and then fun REALLY begins!

Well, we had no idea that when this panel was first removed at 11:00 that it wouldn't get put back on until 6:30! Chad (stomperks), David (dngspot), and Jim (missile150) swung by today at varying intervals, to run the electrical lines throughout the basement. Believe it or not, we never...

You're right. I decided to do just that. There is NO reason why I should try to get by like that when it would only be cutting corners. And "if you can't find the time to do it right, how will you find the time to do it again?" :D

Bloke's 180g - It was bound to happen...

YES! :D And I am not even sure I understand what you're suggesting. Obviously, I understand the over-the-top closed loop, and the suggestion of getting another pump to run as a return, but what are you suggesting I drill? Are you suggesting I drill two 1 1/2" holes for intakes into the 2"...

Bloke's 180g - It was bound to happen...

Well, I found a pretty good deal on a Sequence (Reeflo) Dart pump (3600gph) and an Oceans Motions 4-way on ReefCentral. So, I was wondering if this setup would work: As you can see, I will pull from the sump and then "T" the return sending part of it through 4 return lines to the tank and...

Hmm - no clue. I had problem having both SketchUp and Google Earth on the computer. I got rin of Google Earth I live outside of east Wichita, not very close at all to Great Bend.

Okey dokey... I have finally finished framing! :D However, I do still have to frame the header for the tank. I picked up the tank and it's currently sitting in the family room awaiting a cleaning and final placement. I did not want to put to frame the header without getting an accurate...

Closed Loop Hole Placement - 180g AGA

What about increaing the number of return lines? Drilling the ends would not be a problem - that would add two more return lines. Also, I might use two different pumps - one for each side. Perhaps run two Reeflo Snappers (2500gph) instead. What about this configuration? All bottom holes...

Closed Loop Hole Placement - 180g AGA

This is what I was thinking for a closed loop on a 180g AGA Reef Ready tank: The four inner holes will all be return holes while the two outer/lower holes will be intake holes for the pump. I do not want to come over the back as others have done. I was also planning on each hole being 1 3/4"...

Bloke's 180g - It was bound to happen...

Yeah, I thought about that. I will NOT be sheet-rocking behind this wall, but I will be installing a fan. I don't know were to find one that quiet though. I am sure Home Depot and Lowes fans are not very quiet. Any ideas? How about ideas on where to find a coolingstat or dehumidistat?
