The tank is now plumbed and running with tap water on the patio. One small drip to fix yet and it will be ready to go. The flow is great all the dirt that was in the tank is in suspension and moving around well. Here's the latest. Les

Don -- That is what I am thinking on the MBV. That's why I am going even simpler for now, though it may cut flow down a bit. I going to use the manifold that came with the pump and hose barb ells on the bulkheads and hose it on for now. Then when I am ready for the MBV it will be easy to...

Thanks for all the kind words. I am going to start working on the plumbing tonight if I can as it is supposed to be warm for a few days and I want to get it plumbed and leak tested so that part is finished. I am still trying to decide if I want to run my sump returns up alongside the Durso's...

I bought the tank used and the overflows were already there.

We now have holes. This 3/4" acrylic is tough stuff. I broke 2 pilot drills on my hole saw getting those holes in. The 1 3/8" holes weren't bad but the 2 3/8" holes really put the drill to work. I think it was easier drilling glass. Anyhow, here's the photo.

Yes, and less plumbing to buy.

Thanks. I just checked out your Project X thread. Very nice Job. I am getting anxious to get the holes drilled. After seeing that acrylic suction cover that Tom made I am tempted to drop to 2 - 1.5" suction ports and build one of those screens. I have a piece of black to do it with.

I just thought of another question. When I get this tank up and running I will be doubling the amount of water that the current tank has. (The current tank is a 180) All the LR and livestock and water will be transferred. Will my bacteria level that is currently in the LR be sufficient to...

The MBV is something I have wanted to do but the pocket book won't allow it at this time. I was thinking that if I ever went that direction I would add a couple of 1" BH to each side centered top to bottom which should cover the flow. For now I was just planning on using Lockline Y's on the...

Pump is an AmpMaster 7500. I was going to do 4 across the top down 8" and another 4 same location down 18" with 2 suctions on each side. I have the manifold for the pump which has 8 - 3/4" outlets on it. I was going with 4 suctions so there wouldn't be much pull on any one port. Is that...

That is next. 4 - 1.5" for suction and 8 - 3/4" for return to the tank for the CL. Do you think the stand will hold 3500 pounds? Later on after all is set up I will cover the stand with panels instead of doors so I can just remove and have complete access to the sump area without anything in...

Now that things have settled down

That 2 1/2 should work ok. I have a sump drilled like that it there are no leaks. I am outside building the stand for my 336 gallon right now. Still a little cold but what the heck.

I'm going to tag along as well. This looks like it is going to be good. Thanks for starting it. Les

Hey guys. I had some time to do some thinking this Saturday morning. First chance I have had in a couple of days as my Mother passed away Thursday night so we have been dealing with all the details. Anyhow, I have been thinking that this tank is going to be up against a wall and I don't know...

There's a few things I think I am good at but interior design is not one of them, even underwater. Interior, exterior, to a fish it's all the same.

    Drilled hole,s

Looks great. What's your flow rate through that thing. Of course it looks like more since you put it on the short end where mine is across the back.

Pictures with be forthcoming as progress commences. Even though I have the sand for this tank, my wife and I are trying to decide now on sand or BB. The main reason I was going to use sand was so I could reach the bottom of the thing being it is 29" deep on the inside. We have a 65 gallon...

Well, this is getting better. During our travels today my wife noticed a new house being built. When we got back home later in the day I went to the site and they were just getting ready to leave for the day. They had a pile of lumber in the front and said that someone comes in the evening to...
