Buying Salt Part 2 - What Quantity?

I voted "Other". I buy at max 2 buckets. I guess it's because that's somewhat all I need, but somewhat more. Best, Ilham

    Mystery Coral - ID please

IMO..... No, you don't have to cut them away. The dead part is now "live rock" so to speak, and if kept healthy, the coral will grow again. Low water flow, place it on the bottom if you have metal halides. They send out some nasty stinger tentacles at night/feeding time. Do not put other...

    Dons overflowing tank build

Don, this will be awesome! I like new tanks. Do you know if any instances in which fish has jumped over? Or maybe a snail has been found on the other side ;) Best, Ilham

    Bulb recommendation

In the order of preference....IMO, I'd go.. 12000k Reeflux > 15000k XDE > 14000k Phoenix > 14000k Coralvue. IMO, the Phoenix is too blue...although that varies person to person. A lot of people have had luck with the 12000k Reeflux. I tried the SE version of the 15000k XDE (XM) bulb. It was...

    Opinions on Oddysea ballasts

I, too, use ARO ballasts exclusively. More than 3 years now, and my 250W ARO E-ballasts are still running. Best, Ilham

I have switched to a new salt.

No....this is all Lab grade and very consistent..I really want to use this salt as well, but it is costly. I will stick with Instant Ocean for now. Best, Ilham

    Need your input on lighting

Hi. I prefer XM10k without actinics, although if it is too white, you can add some actinics. The PAR is just too good.. Best, Ilham

    Can anybody Id this nudi?

IMO, a Chromodoris quadricolor. http://www.seaslugforum.net/factsheet.cfm?base=chroquad It cannot be a C. magnifica, especially if it came from the Red Sea (Egypt as you said). C. magnifica is only known from Indonesian waters, Papua New Guinea, Eastern Australia, and also in the...

    Brine Shrimp Gut Loading

If they do not hatch, the person who decapsulated them did something wrong. Decapsulated brine shrimp hatches, otherwise, we'd have more larvae dying from the outer shells. Actually, brine shrimp hatches better when it is decapsulated since it does not have to go through such a thick membrane...

    My Banner Day

Very cool Susie!!! Great job! Banggais are really cool to watch. When they finally go to that CITIES list of fish...they will be in shorter supply. Best, Ilham

    Bob Moore from Bellevue

While I have not met Bob personally, I am sure there is much loss for the local reef community. Prayers go for his family and relatives. Best, Ilham

    Rods-Food Review Two Thumbs Up

I have to agree. While I have never tried Rod's Food, I have heard very very great reviews. I think if your clownfish doesn't eat Rod's Food at feeding time...something may be wrong. Best, Ilham

    live brine

IMO, the easiest way to hatch brine shrimp is to take a 2L bottle, cap it, invert it, and cut the bottom off. Put saltwater, brine eggs, and air line to bubble up like boiling. Best, Ilham
