    Ed, I'm not sure how this differs from Zeovit or VSV (Vodka, sugar, vinegar) dosing. I would imagine you would look for the same things like a massive bacteria bloom or extended lightening of your SPS corals.

    That's parrotfish that make the sand. So does the macroalgae Halimeda.

    It's my experience that none of them are reef-safe. You also need to have a very large tank with overkill filtration to handle their bioload. You also pretty much need a separate tank to grow live sponges to supplement their diet.
