    Have shopping list, need money!

Yeah, I kinda wonder about the "heaviness" of my bioload. It's pretty much all the fish I'd ever want, except maybe a scribbled rabbitfish (I am planning on getting a bigger tank within a year as well) and as far as corals go, I would like to get a few more LPS but I will keep their size at bay...

    Have shopping list, need money!

That's good to hear, since I have never dealt with them myself. They do have good prices (as long as the equipment is high quality, which I've had no experience with).

    Have shopping list, need money!

Yeah, I am in the process of picking out a RO/DI (looking at the filter guys $199 unit which I would also use for drinking water since ours often tastes VERY funky) and an ATO. PH monitor will come right afterwards. My blue tuxedo urchin can "monitor" PH but it does so by dying... I'd rather...

    help with halide bulb

Oh, and my bulbs are XM. Ushios are the ones that didn't work.

    help with halide bulb

I love buying from Marine Depot dot com. They have good prices, good selection and fabulous customer service. I bought the wrong brand bulbs (didn't work with my ballast), sent them back and got the refund right away, unlike some other places I have purchased from.

    Need ID for this snail

WOW. Cool looking! To me it looks like a sponge on a snail as well :)

    This rock is insane!

That's gorgeous! How much was it per lb, if you don't mind me asking?

    goodbye RF

Dang, I am sorry to hear of your decision, but I know you gotta do what you feel is right for you. I will miss your insight and your funny comments. It was good meeting you last year. I hope to see you again someday.

How risky is it to use a hang on overflow on a non drilled tank?

Yes, the first time the power failed and the siphon line was plugged up with little feather dusters and whatever else grew in it, so the aqualifter could not restart the siphon. I replaced the airline and everything worked fine until one day the aqualifter pooped out (at the time nobody had...

How risky is it to use a hang on overflow on a non drilled tank?

My CPR hang on overflow has flooded the house twice before I said the heck with it and got a drilled tank.

    A Big Fat Lie

Oh, you people are AWESOME! I had just about lost all hope, but with all the friendly (and funny) hints, I finally MADE IT! My very first visit to Barrier Reef Aquariums! :D Of course, it made me wish I had a better paying job! Thanks everyone!

    A Big Fat Lie

OK folks. Barrier Reef does NOT exist. Quit tellin' me it does. I have gone a few times to try and find it, and it just is not there. What a bunch of silliness! Well, seriously, I must be really stupid or the store is invisible. The directions sound so simple, it is practically right...

Is There a such thing as TOO much light?

My shrooms did not mind my 250 watt halide over my 54 gallon tank, but they DID mind clean water. They were shrinking too, until my overflow broke and I ran sumpless for a while. They loved the extra junk in the water, opened up and started growing. Not that you should have a dirty tank...

    Have shopping list, need money!

Thanks for all your input folks. Scooterman, the tank is 72" long and 20" tall. As far as calcium reactor goes, I would just like to have one so I can have a nice purple tank :) and I really like Halimeda which seems to need a lot of calcium. So far I have not been able to keep Halimeda for...

    Have shopping list, need money!

Hey folks, I have a 125 (or actually I think it is a 120 long) gallon tank with a sump that varies from 20 to 30 gallons depending on how regularly I top it off. I have: -at least 150 lbs of live rock -a shallow sugar sand bed for my new blue spot gobies -moderate flow -triple 175 watt Metal...

3 year old 240 gl reef tank any ideas.

You're in Stockton? Good, I will drop by when I visit my frien Miranda. I would love to see a "no maintenance" setup! :D

Here is proof that I actually have a reef tank

Gee, thanks Gabby, I was implying that it was MY CAMERA (not ME) that sucks!   Actually, I think I need some actinics over the tanks. These silly XM 10,000k bulbs are so yellow they even make the wall behind the tank look yellowish.

    Pink Slime

It's not cyano: someone pours blackberry milkshakes into the tank when the owner is not loooking.

The danger of false security - please advise

Yes, I agree, the PH is low. It should be around 8.2 I believe. I also agree on the possibility of die-off causing the algae bloom. Do you have another tank to temporarily house the remainder of your corals? If not, I am sure you can find someone local to babysit them until your tank gets...
