I have 3 400 HQI over a 330, running 10 hours per day, and a chiller is required to keep it at 79 degrees. Otherwise it will go to between 82 and sometimes 85. Be careful on the 400 HQI double ended, which is what I have. The bulb selection is limited.

Most chillers have external plug in temperature controllers. That is definitely the case for Tradewind and Aqualogic. With those you can use any number of temperature controllers.

I have never taken it apart since I do not want to void any warranty. It definitely is a 400W HQI ballast. That is stated on the outside of the PFO ballast box.

OK. What should can I do to stop the hydrophora from extending its polps during the day. I would love to be able to do, since its body is a very vibrant neon green and it is growing rapidly.

My experience with the neon green is, if you have it in too high of a flow area, the tenticles get longer and hide the bright neon green on the body. Stinging other corals is a real concern with hydrohpora. Otherwise relatively easy to keep in relation to other SPS.
