    Why have snails?

I only have a 2 gallon running right now that has snails. I've got one nassarius in there that does a great job keeping the sandbed clean. Have 2 stomatellas that hitchhiked in (LOVE those guys!), one cerith, and one margarita. My glass is super clean, and apparently the tank keep producing...

    Need info please

You know, a lot of people are actually "cycling" their tanks with hardy softies, like xenia and those palys you've got all over that rock. Those particular palys are super hardy, too, at least from my experience and from what I've seen/heard from others. They're actually considered a "pest" to...

Fishtank Kings — National Geographic releasing new aquarium reality show

Same here  Right on the nose, Todd :) I've got faith that NG will be a little more thorough and do more research into the tanks, rather than throwing in what the buyers think looks "cool" and "pretty" at the expense of the livestock.

    Life from the Puget Sound

Brought back crabs, snails, barnacles, and pods from the Sound. The crabs and snails didn't survive long, nor did the barnacles, but the pods did. I added them to my tank to help the population grow. Seems to have worked well, because my population is thriving! Good luck to you in your PS...

    The worst stuff about

That's one beautiful flowerpot coral! Congrats on the new addition :D And glad to see your algae problem has been (mostly) resolved!

Do you guys think this would work on a 32 gallon

LED Wholesalers (the company selling that particular unit) hasn't had the best reviews. They have a lower rating on their ebay site, as well, and after reading a few of the feedback comments, there seem to be a good number of people who receive defective units from these guys (several of the...

    Cool Green Fluorescent Sponge!

Yeah, same here. In fact, that fluorescent green sponge that's pictured was exposed to air when I was moving the frag from the bag to my tank. It's obviously been doing well, considering it's taken over half the GSP plug :P I also had pineapple sponges on a media basket in my old 29, and when...

My Zoa is growing another polyp from its mouth!

:biggrin1: Crazy that a polyp would grow from another polyps mouth - I've never heard of or seen that before! Looking forward to a better pic, if you can grab it. You may have the first ever Zoa-Regurgitating Zoanthid ever! lol

    Cool Green Fluorescent Sponge!

Wow!! At first I thought it was a slightly bleached-out mushroom :D What a neat looking sponge! I have a huge patch of fluorescent green sponge in my tank, too, but it looks a little different from yours: Funny thing is that I've heard these types of sponges prefer little light, yet this...

My Zoa is growing another polyp from its mouth!

You sure it's not "pooping"? How long has it looked like that?

    Id please

Sponges are definitely a good sign, and yes, pineapple sponges are very funky looking :D I had a BUNCH on the underside of a rock once, and was glad they never spread anywhere visible in the tank. If you ever want to get rid of them, you can always pluck or scrape them off the rock, but they...

    Id please

If it's those white dots, and they look like this: http://www.pirx.com/gallery/albums/sponges/sponge02.jpg then it is indeed a pineapple sponge, and totally harmless. Cool, even, and great that they are spreading in your system :)

    mixing water

I'm not sure what blue line/ yellow line means, because we buy our RO/DI water by the gallon at our LFS. I only have a 2 and 4 gallon SW tank and can't afford to buy an RO/DI unit for use at home.

    mixing water

We used sink water on our first tank until someone recommended RO/DI water. After noticing a significant difference in health of corals, fish, and water, we've used RO/DI since, even on our brackish tank.

    Where'd these eggs come from?

They were floating attached to the nasty webbing crap. If they were on the glass, I'd know immediately it was a snail. I'm surprised my clown wasn't going crazy eating and nipping at them. He seemed disinterested until I started sucking them out with a turkey baster - then he starting picking...

    Where'd these eggs come from?

I was wondering if they were stomatella eggs. That is the only kind I can't find an image of on google. All the other snails and critters in my tank do not produce eggs that way, according to google image search and web search. But would stomatellas release them in that webby substance? It...
