Poll: North Sound Reefers Summer BBQ

Voted yes to come to the BBQ, but will be driving to BRA with my son and hubby on our own. I'd offer a carpool, but with all the baby stuff in the car, I think I have maybe one seat available, right next to me inbetween the driver's and passenger's seat. You'd have to be someone reeeeeeeeally...

How is you'r livestock doing from seamax?

Everything but my alveopora made it back - 2 mini maxis, 3 zoanthid frags, 3 horseshoe crabs, 1 linkia starfish, 2 monti plate frags, 1 branching monti frag, and a stomatella snail. :D

'JULY' ~North Sound Reefers~ Get Together

Due to a head cold my husband gave me, because he's so generous, I am afraid I will not be well enough to attend tomorrow :( Was looking forward to it, too. I will have to catch you all at the next meeting. Have a great time!!!!

    SEA-MAX 2011 in Seattle, WA!

:( Breaks mine as well... But I completely understand why. It was lovely meeting you and your wife, and I want to personally thank you for organizing such an awesome, once-in-a-lifetime event for all of us. My family and I had a terrific time :) Hope to see you in California one day...

SeaMax 2011 is in the books!

Very well stated, Sid! I couldn't agree more with the success of Seamax. While I am an individual, not a wholesaler, I was able to chat with a lot of vendors and get some great information to take with me for the future - and to take to my LFS to get them to sell some of the products :P Gotta...

    SEA-MAX 2011 in Seattle, WA!

After volunteering on Saturday, and returning on Sunday, I completely understand your frustration, MadMax. I saw how busy you were, running around and being pulled in several different directions. To go through so much effort to bring something this AMAZING (because seriously, folks, Seamax...

Pics of my 12 gal FOWLR and the beginning of my Biocube 29 build!

Sounds like a good start to me, especially if you are sticking with the stock lighting. You don't want to add too many corals that need a little more in the light department.

Pics of my 12 gal FOWLR and the beginning of my Biocube 29 build!

Not at all!! :D So I bought mine used from another reefer, who included quite a bit of parts and equipment with it. A media basket was one of those items, but mine looks like it was originally for a different type of tank, because it doesn't quite fit well in the back (it's a little small)...

List of Corals available at Seamax for Silent auction!!!

Haha! Good plan :) And good luck! I'd love to bid on them, but I have noooo room for such a large piece. If you win it, maybe I can persuade you to make a frag for me :D

I would like to "buy it now" for the alveopora, please :)

List of Corals available at Seamax for Silent auction!!!

Are the zoas (I think they're zoas, they look like it from my point of view...) in the center of this pic for sale in the auction? If so, I'd like to know how much :) Thanks! Edit: Now that I look at it more closely, I don't think they are zoas :P What is it?

    hard vs soft growth

I agree. I know quite a few reefers who have success with either or, not both, because they either keep their water a little dirty, or they keep it clean. I have little success with hard corals like LPS and SPS, but my softies grow like crazy. This is because my water is a bit "dirtier". I...

    Funky starfish

I thought so, but when I googled "Astrea" there actually were images of the asterinas, so I thought maybe they were two different types :P

    Funky starfish

+1 Astrea. I have a bunch of weird ones with crazy numbers of legs. They irritate my zoas, though, so I pluck them out.
