How often should we clean the airstone and is there a special chemical or process for it? I see some people boil them, soak them in vinegar, or use a store bought product. What is suggested?

update: took the closed loop down completely, switching out the seal on the hammerhead (thanks Eric at OBD) and bought new true double union valves. Will see when we hook it back up if we got rid of the microbubbles.
