    ID Please

Looks like a glass anemone to me too. They're faint, but I can just make out some bands in the tenacles. Either way, they are generally considered a pset that can spread in our aquariums.

Anyone run closed loop plumbing through floor?

Sounds like it, just depends on the flow chart for that pump.

    CRAB ID??

    Acro crab maybe?

Anyone run closed loop plumbing through floor?

No. Is your closed loop going to have just the one return, or are you splitting it?

    Blindness....

I've got no useful input, but I'm sorry to hear about your fish; eight years is a long time. Hope Lee has a good answer for you.

How far have u went to keep out heat.

I put my chiller on line. It's an Aqualogic 1/5 hp deal. Keeps the tank at a steady 79-80, and it's not too noisy for a chiller; but I only run it in the summer because it's noisy enough to make me have to turn the TV up. So, I guess the answer is- I turned the TV up. BUt no, I've never cut...

    Flow vs filter?

It's a 30 gallon, a maxi mod kit might be too much

    Flow vs filter?

^^^^^^^Yep, what he said^^^^^^^ MaxiJets are fine little pumps, but the broader flow pattern from a korallia is nicer for your tank inhabitants.

    need help with stick polyps

How long have they been in there. I agree with the possible "nipper" (angelfish). Maybe too much light? That's a long shot though. Almost looks like they've all got a hold of some nummies.

    Tunicate on rock

I'm not an expert on tunicates, but I had one that hitched in years back that survived for a couple of years in my tank until I sold the system; don't know how long it lasted afterwards. It seemed to be getting enough nutrients from the water even though it was mostly covered by shrooms during...

    Flow vs filter?

In the long run your filters will likely end up causing nitrate problems. Do away with them and get the power heads as you're talking about. A thirty gallon is pretty small, maybe a Korallia 2.

    Down to two options

Just my two cents, but I don't like the look of the halide reflectors in your second option; my guess is that there may be hot spots (too directional). I agree.

    Uni seal skimmer question

Yeah, I'm assuming it would be a bad idea to try it seeing as how I've got nearly a grand into this thing.

    Uni seal skimmer question

Does anyone know if a uniseal will work on the body of a cone skimmer? My concern is that because the skimmers body isn't exactly perpendicular to horizontal, that it might try to force the pipe that I stick through into an upward angle instead of sticking straight out flat. Don't know if I'm...

Seattle to hot 90º this week

I guess it really depends on what's in your tank. I've left my lights off for four days straight once and had no ill effects, and I've got light lovers in mine. You could try just turning them on for a couple hours in the morn before it gets too hot?

    ready for new lights

My experience with CA (several years back now) is that they are, well, "budget", I guess is one way to describe it.

    New Marineland CUBE Tanks

I'm surprised that they're that tall, I was figuring about 24" based on the pics. They're nice looking, just hard to fit a skimmer under there.

    ready for new lights

I believe that I bought mine from marinedepot.com or it may have been premiumaquatics.com. I do check em both out because I do remember there being a bit of a price difference between the two; this was a couple of years ago now though. there's a thread right now of a member that has a 75 with...
