    Circulation/filtering question

I will be honest with you I am not a spray bar fan. They need periodic maintenance. You could even get a flood. You would have to remove it often to clean it I agree with you that you need a lot of flow to keep things circulated in water so filters work properly. Are you going fish...

    GFO vs PO4x4

Thank you Boomer! :) I will most likely just stick with a good grade of GFO. I am having issues with people using cleaning products while I am maintaining a Reef Tank in a Public environment. I will most likely use Carbon and GFO to hopefully slow things down. Always appreciate your help...

    GFO vs PO4x4

PO4x4 Phosphate Remover write up... My nitrate and phosphate levels are close to zero, but algae is growing ! Sounds familiar ? Maintaining the levels of waste products low while feeding your animals on a regular basis is essential for keeping invertebrates and fish in good health. In...

    GFO vs PO4x4

Hello Boomer, There is a talk of GFO putting iron back into reef tank. Therefore promoting algae growth. Is there any way to learn if that is fact or fiction? I am thinking too much iron would not be good. That is PO4x4s driving point. thanks in advance, Ed

saying good bye to Susie's Old cube...gonna be hard

I am sentimental about things. I look at things and think of good times. This is the last week with Susie's old cube. A new owner will be coming from Portland this Saturday to pick it up. The time shared building this and tearing it down. Time with friends who said lets fill that...

    acrylic VS starfire...

What about attachments? Having a some experience with Acrylic- the thing I liked was being able to mount stuff like seaswirls, brackets, DIY items a lot easier than to glass. I removed a few scratches from Susies Old Cube last night. Clarity would be a good arguement with some tanks.

    acrylic VS starfire...

I used Mighty magnets adaptors and scratch repair kits. I do not think anyone would have that much issues with acrylic anymore even in deep tanks with Coraline. Acrylic is not that hard to repair. I can understand the slight distortion in acrylic. But I do not agree with Starphire vs...

    acrylic VS starfire...

I know I want stability. A concern for me with Glass and I do want Starphire, would be the seals wearing out, longevity, Temperature swings because glass does not have same insulation properties as Acrylic. So I am thinking more energy consumption. I am wanting to go with LED's. But I...

    acrylic VS starfire...

Ok, as some of you may have read on the classifieds. Susie's 300 gallon cube is up for sale. I have 3 people interested. So good chance it will be gone this week. I have been looking and comparing new tanks and materials. From what I have seen acrylic seems more expensive than glass. I...

    Increasing O2

You know there is a lot of good information here. Some things I would look at would be flow/contact time in sump. I am hoping you have 3-5 times flow returning back to your tank. 100 gallon tank- you want 300-500 gallon return flow. Too much and contact time is shortened. Too little...

    Cwazy's DIY 16x16x12 Glass tank

I do not want to burst anyone's bubble. I could be wrong. I have had a couple friends mix acrylic with glass inside tank. The acrylic expanded and broke a starfire tank. Your work looks fantastic. I hope you have no issues.
