Could be to much light? What were they under at the lfs?

A PAR bulb would probably be your best bet. I have not tried the ones from rapid led, but i got my diy kit from them and its fantastic. They sell PAR bulbs that i believe they make in house, much less expensive then some other online retailers. 12 LED PAR38 Bulb (Mixed Color with UV) - Rapid LED

Finally done. Removed and cleaned my skimmer, return pump and changed some water. I always dread cleaning the skimmer, its a huge pain...

I change it out like once per month. It's not a huge amount I run. I usually pull it out every other week to re adjust it and move it all around in the bag, as well as to rinse out any crap that's lodged in it.

Hmm, no idea if that would cause a problem, i couldn't imagine it would though. As long as food is all that was in it. Who knows, maybe your fish will love you for it because those sound delicious =)

Which setting do you have yours running on? I put mine on the reef crest mode at full power. It seems to me that most of the noise that i hear happens when the motor goes from a low speed to a high speed. Once it reaches the speed that the controller tells it to go to the sounds seems to go away...
