Cleaner Magnet for 1" Acrylic Tank

Hi, I have a 1" thick acrylic tank and need to get a cleaner magnet. Price is an issue but I want to get something that will work well and not scratch the tank. Does anyone have any suggestions on what and where I can buy? I got a great white before but felt it was too strong for my tank...

    Lets talk about ~Lighting~

If you have a chance any info would be really cool, or is there an article I can read about it? I started reading through your resource gallery on lighting and there are some really good articles in there. Thanks.

    Lets talk about ~Lighting~

Hey Mike, I've been reading a bit more but still having trouble understanding this. I still don't see what/how the flash does to get the process started that normal intensity light doesn't. I had heard that you get better growth from doing this though that why I'm so interested in it.

    Lets talk about ~Lighting~

Mike, thanks for the help so far. Just a few more questions. Let me see if I got what your saying about the flash thing. The zoox contain pigments, such as chlorophyll and carotenoid peridinin in a 1 to 4 ratio. The carotenoid peridinin acts like an antennae (receptor) with a switch that...

LOL But in your earlier posts you said pigments were in both the zoox and coral. Is that whole process of transfering energy to reaction center pigments by inductive resonance within the zoox and not the coral? I'm still not understanding is this Whats is the coral doing vs. the zoox after...

Nah, its the other way around. Here's a link to wikipedia, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Light_spectrum Theres a color-coded chart on the bottom right.

    Lets talk about ~Lighting~

I know there was a little confusion on this before, so just to clarify its the other way around. Shorter wavelengths/higher frequencies (bluer light) have more energtic photons then higher wavelengths/shorter frequencies, which is why blue light goes deeper in the ocean. Also on a similar...

    Lets talk about ~Lighting~

Mike, what do you do for a living man? When you started talking about electron-hole pairs I was like oh man. This is a great thread, just a few questions. Are you talking about the corals pigments now? Can you say a little more about how the inductive resonance works? Are you saying...

    Lighting 30" Wide Tank

Hi Scott, I've been thinking about similar issues for a while now. My tank will be 54*30*24 with a 6in bow (180G). I was planning on going with two 250W ROIII pendants (with T5s or Vho's). And since my tank isn't a rectangle, I was thinking of even angling my pendants. I wonder if 400W is...

    Drains-bubbles and noise

Hey Don, Noise from water hitting the sump or from the overflow? Bubbles will always happen because you mix the water with air to take it to the sump. So do you have a problem with bubbles going into the sump or back into the tank? Paul

    My 160G Bowfront Tank Design

Funny BigT Hey Greg, I'm orginally from NYC but I'm in Rochester going to UofR. I'm living in brighton/henrietta right now. I'm not sure if he will have the teeth going all the way across. Hey Zeph, The frame should be 54in on the back and we decided to do eurobracing with a 3/4in top...
