    New Era for CFI

Just bought a used tank made by Jason a couple years ago and I can't believe the craftsmanship and attention to detail. I am safely assuming it will last me many years to come. Glad to see you back in the saddle.

    New 120 gallon setup

I managed to inherit this wonderful tank from Jamie and I will have a build thread up soon. I'm really excited to have the opportunity and I hope it is equally as nice in my possession as it was in his!

    Acrylic Care and Tips

Oh yeah, don't hold the buffer in one spot for too long because it will heat up the acrylic and cause it to cloud!

    Acrylic Care and Tips

I'll add a few of my tips on scratch removal- The Novus polish kit works great on the really fine scratches. I suggest buying the 1, 2, 3 kit. If the scratches are a little bit deeper then go to Autozone or another auto parts store and buy some 800 grit, 1500 grit, and 2000 grit wet sanding...

    Help! Torch coral

I've heard of people keeping a portion of the old sand bed and putting new sand on top of it after the relocation. Also try taking the old sand out in layers and then put it back in the tank in the opposite order you took it out in. HTH Kyle

    best external skimmer

I have an Aqua C Remora and I used a MJ1200 on it, it skimmed VERY wet. I think the key would have been to put a Mag 3 on it. Even though the MJ1200 is recommended by AquaC, I think it is a little bit to underpowered. I borrowed a friends Aqua C Remora Pro w/ a Mag 3 and it kicks some serious...

    Ball valve question

I can't give you a for sure answer, but I don't think they'd leak. One idea is to use a threaded ball valve and put a screw cap w/ some plumbers tape on it just to be sure

    CODMW2!

I'm pissed, no dedicated servers for PC. Looks like I might have to dust off the 360 for this one.

Ellylove's 46 Gallon Bow Front (VERY Pic Heavy!)

I really like the black sand, I nearly wish I would have gone with it instead. Looks good so far. If the shadow the eurobrace is casting ever bothered you too much, you could always sell that fixture and get one with 2 175w MH's and T5 actinic supplements. The light should be evenly...

Ideas of how to save money with energy efficient SPS systems..

I know this is controversial but- what about running without a heater? From what I have read, in nature the temperature swings can vary by 10 or 12 degrees constantly. I have heard of a lot of people running without a heater and having a perfectly stable system. There are a lot of variables...

    New to hobby

This thread came back from the dead! I missed this months meeting but plan on making the next one. I feel bad, but the wife dumped a big list of honey do's on me. Needless to say, I had a busy weekend. Hope to see you there Cheryl, at least then I won't be the only new person there. Kyle

Can't get new ballast to fire

Well, I tore everything down and start over from scratch wiring it up exactly as the both diagrams showed. Made sure the end caps were tight, and even swapped out the lamps from the other kits that works correctly. Now every time I give it power, it starts up for 15 seconds and shuts off for...

Can't get new ballast to fire

Thanks for the reply scoot, I've tried swapping the bulbs around already, I am running 2 54w lamps with SLS Tek End Caps. I have even pulled the end caps apart and ensured that the wires were still secure in them. Talk about a pain in the a**, hopefully they will just trade me out a workhorse...
