    Bleaching pocilliopora

So here's a puzzler- I have had this colony of green pocilliopora for over a year now. It has grown quite well for me and I have been able to frag 5 seperate colonies from the mother. Recently, all 3 colonies that I have remaining have bleached out and all that is left are pink tips. All the...

Fish are acting strange, any help is appreciated.

Thanks for the advice. To answer Jan's question about corals, I received a green tree coral, two ricordea's, a small colony of zoo's and a small colony of pink mushrooms. I already had xenia, a couple of zoo colonies and a ricordea.

Fish are acting strange, any help is appreciated.

I do have test kits, I can't remember what they were last week, but I can test again and post them later. I would like to save the fish If i can. I was thinking of putting them into the QT and trying hyposalinity just in case they have parasites. So you recommend against this?

Fish are acting strange, any help is appreciated.

Thanks, I did a 10 gallon water change just the other day (40 gallon tank) And I just added new carbon to the canister filter that I run. I am going to set up a QT and move the fish. Does this sound like any typical disease?

Fish are acting strange, any help is appreciated.

Hello everyone, I have a few questions on puzzling behavior that my fish are experiencing. I recently brought in a frog fish and some corals that I traded for, and now after a few days of having everything in the tank my fish are all acting odd. I have a bi-color blenny, yellow tail damsel...

    anything special for growth

Speaking from my experience, I have had great growth with calcium, iodine, and strontium/molydenum supplementation. I know that Kent Marine sells this as a "Reef Pack". Caution should always be taken when dosing, especially if you haven't dosed your tank before. Make sure to follow the dosing...

I need to begin research on which SPS corals and few other species of corals

Not everyone on this board is educated, free of disabilities, and/or a native english speaker. We're all coming form different backgrounds. I think that we should all try to remember this. Like Old Man of the Sea said, if you are having trouble following posts such as this, then maybe you...

    please I D this coral

Hey there, Yes, that is a chilli coral. I'm surprised that you haven't been able to find any info on them. Chilli corals (in my experience) are pretty hardy, they require a placement in the tank that is dim, like in a cave, and extend white polyps to catch particulate matter for feeding. I had...

Help help I"ve got bubbles on red alge on my rocks

looks like red cyano. Water changes and the above mentioned rock scrubbing to remove excess should do the trick.

    Mushrooms and polyps

What's up TLT. For mushrooms and Polyps (I'm going to assume Zoanthid polyps here) your lighting is probably sufficient. I would try using calcium, iodine and Strontium/molybdenum. They commonly sell these as a standard reef pack and they are typically the most commonly used supplements to...

    29 gallon suggestions....

WOW!! I think you need to scale down your fish a bit. A 29 gallon tank is way to small for just about all tangs, even in their juvenile stages. The clowns would be fine, but I would use this rule of thumb. 1 inch of fish for every 10 gallons, unless they are gobies, in which case you can most...

    How do I get Copepods?

Look on the sponsors page. There is a gal from Seattle that cultivates copepods and sells them. I purchased a bottle of copepods from her a few months back and now my tank is teaming with them!

Ozone, the good, the bad, and the ugly!!!

I was looking around attempting to find information on the use of ozone, but I haven't been able to find much. I have never used ozone on any of my tanks so I am interested in getting peoples input on this. I have heard that it can clear your tank up significantly, but I have also heard that it...

    HELP... Ricordia mushroom and snails?

It has been my experience that Ric's are actually quite resilient. I wouldn't worry about your snail damaging it, but it may move it around if it is not secured to rock. Good luck on! Brent
