Need Hook ups for this club

Dr. Dee-- Sorry for taking so long to get back to you. Most of our interaction occurs on our club website, and i don't check here as often as i should. What you say is very true. few stores here carry quality SPS, though you can find some nice AC stuff at times (at a pretty high price)...

    My new frag shelf.

Cesar, You could create a mini-shelf by gluing pieces of eggcrate on top of segments of large ID PVC. (or 1.5" maybe even 2" coupling?) then you can place your frags on top of the eggcrate shelf. and when they get too dirty, you can dip them in a vinegar or bleach solution for a while. done...

    My new frag shelf.

you could do that, but it would risk cracking the plastic, and you'd still need a lot of holes to allow the same amount of flow through as simply lifting up the frags. also, eggcrate is lightweight (much more than say, substrate) and reduces the weight against the suction cups. just offering...

    My new frag shelf.

Hi Cesar, does the wall of your tray inhibit flow? have you considered using pieces of egg crate on the floor of your tray to lift the corals so they get better flow around them? also, i'd consider adding on some type of hanger, as suction cups tend to fail over time. at least IME. :) jeff

    Ostreobium

Anthony, thanks for the quick reply. i'm glad to hear that it's not fatal. i'll cover it up w/ some super glue once i get back to vegas... it'll be much easier than fragging it. thanks again, jeff

    Ostreobium

Hi Anthony, I have a treasured piece of SPS that looks like it's contracted Ostreobium. i have not been able to find much information about what actions i should take. this is not the first time i've had it. it has killed another frag in a previous tank last year. i also have several frags...

Lighting A Long and Narrow Tank With MH

i don't know how you can *not* buy a 3rd ballast. you can get a single MH footprint to about 3'x3', but the light spread is pyramid like, and the top edges will be noticably darker. you could try using the 2 MH on a Moving Light System (MLS). i've been tossing around the idea of doing this...

    Nano sand bed?

my nano tank has a 1" SSB with black sand. i don't have any fish in it, but i have a very messy mantis shrimp in there. i have not found any noticable detritus on the sand bed, but there is still algae growth on the LR. if you're really worried about nuisance algae, research LR "cooking"...

    Nano Pics

thanks for the complement. i must say though, that these zoos just came out of a friend's tank who had them under MHs. now that they're in my nano, they're bound to fade a bit. how much, we'll see :)

    cleaning off NOVUS scratch remover

i've used novus on a number of tanks so far and have only rinsed them out with tap water. the products are non-toxic, and i doubt they have much in them besides the sanding particles & water.
