    DID AnyONe Else HEAR that??

So funny, Komo says F-15s, Seattle Times says F-16s, King says F-18s. Wish I could be so accurate in my job.

    DID AnyONe Else HEAR that??

Yeah, first one had me running outside, second one was probably the loudest thing I've heard. It was nuts. People were out in the street where I live, looking around trying to figure out what was going on.

    DID AnyONe Else HEAR that??

Yeah, FAA reporting sonic booms from F-15s...someone violated the pres airspace. I live in federal way and thought someone ran into my car in the driveway, ran outside and it sounded like a bomb exploded....you could definately feel it in your chest.

    Purple Tang Sale!!

Yeah, it was cool to watch them interact. There was a group of 4 in the middle of the tank that were trying to see who was top dawg. I chose one of those since I have a feisty flame angel that needs to be put in his place. From the second I put him in the tank hes been swimming around and...

    brown slime algae?

Does it feel like a thick slimy plant almost? It appears to plate away on the edges. If so, you may want to check out Lobophora. Bad stuff. It can survive in low light and low phosphates, etc. The stuff will just keep growing. Hopefully that isn't what it is, but it is what it looks like...

My new SWC 200 extreme skimmer?

I have the same skimmer. I noticed it made more noise in the bathtub getting the vinegar treatment than it did in the sump. Once it was in the sump the only noise it made was the sound of the mesh wheel mixing the air & water before injecting it into the skimmer body. It is not very noisy...

    Nassarius Snail slime

If the slime stays on the sand for a long period then you more than likely have little to no flow at that point of your tank. I had pretty much the same sand in my previous set-up with about 15 nassarius snails and never had a problem with snail trails. If the snail trail bothers you, you can...

    Alarn for a disasterous event.

In the event you cannot put things on different circuits, you can always look into one of these: Link I don't think these are GFCI sockets, so you'll just have to put a GFCI on the sockets that have wires going to components that touch water. (If you put the GFCI before this device and the...

Austrailia's Great Barrier Reef Census (video)

Gives me nightmares of my girlfriend looking in my tank after the lights go out, and telling me I have another crab in there. Glad they are doing research into that type of stuff. Hopefully the oceans haven't hit the tipping point yet.

AGA 180, can it be drilled?

I've used similar diamond bits with great success. Here is the method I use: 1. Apply 2 levels of duct tape to the inside of the area you plan to drill. This will keep the glass from falling inside possibly causing a chip (not likely but what the heck), and will more importantly hold the piece...

How to pump water up to the 2nd floor!

The Mag 18 should be able to get the water up there assuming you are going virtually straight up from the bottom floor. Did you check the flow chart at Marine Depot? You can use some clear 3/4" ID tube found at Lowes/Home Depot and a 3/4" FTP to 3/4" barb adapter to connect to the tube. You...

    Chad's 125g rebuild

@jgraeff - I will be running 3 250 Watt Reeflux 12ks to begin with. I ordered the bulbs at a Barrier's sale this past weekend. I also have an Ice Cap 660 ballast and will be running two 60" Super Attinics once i order the bulbs. I just got my Reef Keeper Lite (Level 3) yesterday and have been...

    Chad's 125g rebuild

I put the sand in the tank using a strainer so I was putting as little water as possible in the tank with the sand. Previously I used sugar sized oolictic sand but it was such a pain to get it to stay in place. This time I used Caribsea Seaflor Special Grade Reef Sand. Time to turn on the...

    Chad's 125g rebuild

Here was the first go around. Now that I’ve had the time to get things going here is a little on the rebuild: One of the major annoyances I had with my original set-up stemmed from the belief that my live rock was fully cured as indicated by the LFS that sold it to me. After the tank was...

    starting a 125 gallon tank

I'm currently working on my 2nd set-up of a 125g. (Same set-up, just getting things done the way I like them this time.) +1 on holygral saying to take your time with the set-up. Make sure everything you do is to your liking. Even the smallest thing that bothers you can become a glaring issue...

    Greatest Tank Ever

Plack - It would be better to go in another direction with lighting if trying to conserve energy. While you can get the Solaris for cheaper due to the demise of PFO, not having spare parts for when they fail would be bad. Not to mention no warranty or support.
