Anyone Know any good books or sites on Zoanthids?

yes this is way better than any book and between here and coralpedia theres a list so long I will be lucky to get half of them in the rest of my life, for now I want to collect the smaller ones and a few nice larger ones I know I can not keep them all in a 20g I probably could not even put 1 of...

    RO/DI water preparation and storage

you could compare the P.H and maybe buffer the RODI closer to it, how long are you going in between top offs? If you do add anything make sure you monitor it.

    RO/DI water preparation and storage

I would use a food grade container, I would also try to keep it circulating. I leave my top off water in 5g water containers and It has sat for almost 2 weeks at one point with no visible changes when I tested the results were as clean as the fresh R.O. I guess that there are buffers for R.O...

Anyone Know any good books or sites on Zoanthids?

I have a few colonies and frags and they are all doing well, I just read somewhere that there are over 250 different known morphs and I have saw a lot of collections I think it would be fun to try to collect them all. There has to be something published. It would be nice to have a checklist. I...

Anyone Know any good books or sites on Zoanthids?

I would like to find a few good books or websites about Zoas. I would like one for propagation and a species index with all the known names and colors, I know there are good ones out there. I was just wondering If anyone knew a recommendable source.

    Tangs: will it work?

Try try again it always works for me. put the net in the water and wait a while then go feed him and try to scoop him out real fast, you can also try to block off the hole you know he wants to go to with another net. maybe chase him into a net with a stick or smaller net.

    Tangs: will it work?

If the yellow tang won't play nice put him in another tank with a picture of the other fish for a while like 2 weeks and let the other fish establish itself to the tank, the yellow tang will then be the newcomer. The other fish may then feel more at home. If they are harassing each other when...

    Tangs: will it work?

I had 5 tangs in a 180 and everything was great I even had a few rabbit fish and every one was fine. But then again I have had powder brown tang rip up a bunch of coral, so you never know what will happen. just make sure you quarantine, especially if you are getting fish from different areas of...

This is going to be my 1st ever saltwater tank!

Welcome to Reef frontiers, I just thought I would let you know I started with a light like that, Coralife 2x 65w w/moonlights, it was really quiet, all I heard was the fan. I would look around to see if any one has any used bulbs to test it out, mine was a pretty sturdy unit I dropped it a few...

    Bathynomus giganteus

Those aren't reef safe, try keeping it in your sump. J/k Podzilla, Podzilla, run. Ive heard of some in fresh water the size of soft balls, but those things are huge. I wonder if any Aquariums have them on show.

    tangs & algae question

I have seen it first hand at A Red Sea, talk to Rob, he has a few. I also found some others who use purple tangs and say they are more likely to eat it, and wipe it out faster than yellow tangs. the problem is the get big and are more aggressive, so at least 100g tank minimum is needed. All I...

    tangs & algae question

I know my one spot rabbit will eat any plant from hair algae to cheato, my sailfin tang will nip at it, but my clown tang, and bristle tooth tang, don't even look twice at it. Ive also seen yellow tangs eat hair algae. You want a tang that grazes on tougher green, sail fin, yellow tang, Scopas...

    How to get to 50

I look more than I post, I think I was around just a little while before they made the rule, lots of eye candy and brought back the dead, but no one seemed to mind. This site is a great resource, and the closest thing many people have to a club. I had never even seen a reef tank until I was 22...

    Blue Jaw TriggerFish

I personally think it a matter of the fish. Different fish in the same species do not all have the same temperament, I have had "Reef safe" just go nuts, don't know why but they pulled every mushroom off the rock and knocked every thing over, maybe they were just looking for food, or mad at me...

    Wrasse Id

I like to use my books but man is beaten by the web and my slow typing, once again but now you have two names for the same fish. I just got a Hawaiian two spot Wrasse he is awesome, the first time I saw him he winked at me, but he is even more aggressive than any other wrasse I have ever owned...

I had to go through 4 books but I found it it is Cirrhilabrus aurantidorsalis a "Gold Flash Fairy Wrasse" max size 3.5 inches minimum tank size 36x18x18 50g Geo Western Central to Pacific ocean. Got all of the info out of a book so no credit to me other than looking it up. Thank Philip Hunt for...
