That is interesting. Are you mixing carbon and gfo in the same reactor. My understanding is that these needed to be separate due to the appropriate flow rate, ie carbon - lots of flow, gfo-not so much.
I have been hanging carbon in bags in my overflow for several months. When I fill the bags I rinse them in some RODI water before putting them in the sump. I don't really want the first black water in the tank. Do I need to worry about this? I have recently bought a carbon reactor and need to...
I am interested in getting a carbon and a GFO reactor for my 120. I have looked at the type that looks like 2 RO/DI cartrige holders on an L-bracket. This would work well in my tank as it would mount to the side of the stand. Does anyone have experience with this type of reactor?

OK, lets try it.
This is the skimmer I have. The pump is an OTP 2000. The newer model of this skimmer has some sort of nob instead of the standpipe which I would like to have as it is such a pain adjusting by turning the standpipe.
I have a NW Octopus 180 skimmer. I heard somewhere that you could get a better or upgraded pinwheel. Anyone know if that is true and if so, where can you find such an animal. I have searched the internet without sucess.
I have a blue clam that has some whiteish patches on the mantle right where they bend over the edge of the shell. It almost looks like something growing on it. The color is also a bit faded. I have it located about 16" below the top of the tank and have a 6-lamp T5HO fixture. Any ideas?
