    Feather Dusters in my Chaeto

I've had my 55gal tank set up for about 6 mos. I have chaeto in my refugium but I seem to have more and more feather dusters taking over. It looks like a huge ball of worms. Should I be thinning them out or is this normal? Thanks

What has happened to my tank??

Update - Ca, Mg, & Iodine were all a bit low but not enough to do the damage caused. With the water change my frog spaw (and aptasia) recovered but sadly I lost 1 fish and our favorite crab. Everything else doing fine- no more slugs... and yes I removed all his remains. He was laid to rest in...

How to keep the water off of the floor?

I had the same problem and was terrified of a power outage - it wasn't a syphon problem it was gravity. I ended up getting a check valve. Each time I do a water change I unplug my return flow pump which verifies the valve is working properly. No more holding my breath!

    Return backflow during fill/power outage

The tank is close to being full and the return hose is just below the teeth. I let it drain until it stopped and I still have > 2/3 space in my sump so I think I panicked prematurely. I'll add more water and turn on the pump and just keep testing it. Thank you for your reply. And yes, pictures...

    Return backflow during fill/power outage

I'm setting up my 1st reef tank (54g hexagon with a sump below) water is draining into my sump from my return flow tube before I even get my water level up to the teeth through which water drains down to the sump. Is there a one-way vaulve I can attach on the end of the return tube that will...
