Large Maroon Clownfish Aggressive, bored, or playing. Need advice...please

thanks for the reply, if she gets worse or does not stop the behavior I may have to give her a 55 gallon to herself--just don't want her to be lonely.

Large Maroon Clownfish Aggressive, bored, or playing. Need advice...please

Could you explain this theory? I thought about maybe trying it, but thought due to her size and aggression she would kill any clown. She is over 10 yrs old and has never had a mate, however, could this help her behavior and prove me wrong?

Large Maroon Clownfish Aggressive, bored, or playing. Need advice...please

Hi, I have had this maroon clown for many years, she is actually a hand me down fish and is around 10+ years old so she is large. In the last 3 months she had been placed in a 180 gallon with just a few other fish ( the tank is not stocked or anything). One day our large bluehead wrasse...

Anyone know what kind of Clarkii this is?

I have a baby Clarkii that has white on the tops of his eyes and a large broken band around his face. Is this what you call the Pearl eye Clarkii? Thanks:redface:

Tap water to store bought RO water advice..please

Sounds good, thank you both. I have a maroon clown fish that has lived in tap water her whole life (10 yrs old) do you think the new RO water quality will affect her? Thanks!

Tap water to store bought RO water advice..please

So today is the day I start the conversion from tap water to RO (Glacier-Safeway brand) and I'm worried about the difference in chemistry in the water. I have the water in 5 gallon buckets with a circulating pump, a heater, and have already mixed in the Instant Ocean salt. 1) Do I need to add...

    Brittle Star info

I got him... Hey, so I got my brittle star and we just love him. He is already trained to take food from the feeding stick and is visable all the time in the tank, as he seems to sleep at night and be out more during the day. I still have my obese scooter blenny so he is not a fish...

    Proper light for reef tanks

Hi, So what kind of lighting would be adequate for a 55gal hex that will eventually have soft corals and a bubble tip sea anemone? The tank is around 20" high so should 100W do it? I also have an 85 gallon tank and i have 3 48" 54W day bulbs and 1 48" antic bulb totaling around 200 watts...

    Is it okay to...

I can't post in the classifieds for another 30 days so can I post trades here? I have a beautiful neon dottyback I would love to trade for something? He is large and healthy (never been sick), tank-bred, and I've had him over a year. Thanks.

Thanks NWDiver, that sounds great on the ammonia spike, and I am just now reading what diatoms are all about. This leads me to my next question of what goes in first? After the ammonia and nitrite hit 0ppm, I was thinking of getting a clean up crew for the diatoms(shrimps, hermits, crabs,) and...

    Brittle Star info

Nice! My sea anemone crab, skunk cleaner shrimp, and pistol shrimp/goby pair are all target fed by me and they beg for food like your brittle star. Sounds like it could work if I keep it well fed and target fed him. Thanks.

    Brittle Star info

returnofsid, Thank you, I think I will pass. My next question was if I would ever see it because I know they are nocturnal. I much rather get a couple of emerald crabs or sally crabs for the extra debris. This is a well established 85gal I have been bringing back to life for the past year...

    Brittle Star info

Thank you, returnofsid. The info was helpful. The ones I'm thinking of adopting are dark blue/black. One is about 1 foot long and the other about half that. I still don't know if the risk vs. the benefits are worth it. I now know I do not what the foot long one. There must be some reason...

    Brittle Star info

Hi, I have the chance to adopt a couple of brittle stars for my reef tank. Is there anything I should know about these guys before I get them? I read about them oline a little but I want to make sure they don't come with a warning label. One is small and one is quite large. They seem healthy...

    Hi from Alaska

You learn so much just by reading others post. Thanks TJL and Krish, that is some great advice on the sugar sand vs. crushed coral. I do have that problem as my crushed sand/coral is 4" deep and needs a serious cleaning. I use the vac but the debree still runs deep, hermits can't touch this...

New to Reef Frontiers -- Mount Vernon, WA

Hi, I started the saltwater hobby a little over 1 year ago and knew absolutely nothing about it. I find that I learn something new everyday and I always look forward to tomorrows lesson about the animals I care for. OK here it goes... I have an 85 gal reef tank. Ammonia 0ppm, nitrate 0ppm...
